I'm a kitchen manager/lead line cook at a brewery/restaurant. We drink before our shift starts every day, we usually get free beers after we close, and I get ridiculous deals on canned and bottled beer direct from my head brewer and my GM.
I drink 2-7 beers a day and have for 9 straight months. My bartenders at work hook me up after my shift and I make them food and baked goods in return.
I'm shotgunning canned beers in my bathroom right now; I have three full kitchen trash bags full of empties in my closet.

I did something similar. I was so drunk and pissed off at a raccoon outside I went out with my AR. I used the tac light as a flashlight and chased the fucker off while yelling too loud. My neighbor called the cops (I live in a condo complex). Had to wait at the hospital in the suicide watch room in nothing but a t-shirt and boxers (no shoes or socks) for 2 hours and blew a .448 BAC. I earned a nice stay at the detox center for 2 days until I sobered up and could talk to the mental health person there that I wouldn't blow away anyone or myself. Not the worst thing I've ever done either.
Actually in month 4 of a 5 month substance abuse out patient rehab course. Feel pretty good now that I stopped drinking. The temptation to relapse is still always there but under control now.

I have seen multiple people close to me ruin their lives with a prescription... thats the worst is when they get it legally. One of my friends from my fraternity who used to blackout every night killed himself a few weeks ago, was probably barred out. The girl I was with for the past 5 years.. got a prescription for xanax and became an achie.. shit went downhill fast. This is all within the recent past.
...but yeah, Whenever I get a few extra bars and I still smoked nothing made me happier than a night on the couch with a few fat bowls and a bar. It makes life okay for a while.. until you run out.

I took one of those. Spent 3 months in, then a faulty test had me with thc in my urine. Begged for another test but.... Anyways, now I drink at least a quart of vodka daily, usually more. I am a stay at home father to an 18 month old. She doesn't get the care she needs and I despise myself for it. I always make sure as best I can that she has at least what she needs to survive, food, diaper changes, doesn't eat poison etc. but I'm not right with myself enough to reliably make sure these things happen and I'm really likely to fuck something up because I'm out of my head and she just dies. I try, but I'll never be good enough. She'll never have the dad that she deserves. Yet I keep on drinking. I'll probably kill myself soon.
