$1200 isn't that much...
>>
>>703721521
It's an investment that has return over time. Especially since I play mostly F2P. Doubles as a productivity platform if you're in school. Lasts probably 2 console generations unless you desire GPU upgrades.

How the fuck does a gaming PC return over time you moron? A gaming PC is not an appreciating asset. It's not a stock portfolio.

It's a depreciating asset. It loses it's value over time. If you buy a top of the line gaming PC for 2k, in a couple years, you'd be lucky if it's worth half.

>>>SPENDING OVER 500 JUST TO TRY OUT PC GEIMU

Just have 500 as your budget and build from there, are people fucking stupid? " DUDE PC MASTER RACE $1200 LMAO" just spend what you can, i got my first pc for 475 and runs the games i want to play perfectly fine, so get over this whole "HURR DURR SO EXPENSIVE" meme cause yeah it's expensive but so is a console over the course of you owning me and having to buy games. I'm not saying you don't save on pc, but doing the math, no one is gonna spend 5000 dollars and say their pc is better then a console and say it's viable.

Now for me i can cause i spent 475 but even then that's a lot but a computer is a computer, not just for games, it's a investment that'll pay back over time so get over yourself
>>

>>
>>703723384
Not who you replied to but I use my 40 inch TV as my monitor, mouse is like 15 bucks for a plain one, but I paid 30 for a good one, keyboard was 60, but only because I like having certain features, controller is 25 bucks for a wired 360 controller, and my system, which can play all but certain games, cost me about 800. Only because I went with higher cost items for a few things, cheaping out on case and power supply. Pirated games, pirated OS.
>>
My rig isn't the best (no 4k video or shit like that) but it looks pretty sweet, runs most games pretty well, and I only have maybe $200 into in in craigslist parts. If you are ok with used stuff you can build a decent rig for cheap

Own a PC and console enjoy both for various reasons the while one platform is better than another is for fucking retards with too much time on their hands. Both have their pros and cons neither one is godly despite your shitty preferences.
>>
>>703724141
No yeah I get that. I would appreciate some extra keybinds for some games or for a pretty glow whenever I turn my shit on. But it still isn't necessary for a rig ya know?
That being said, it does make for a nice upgrade if you get a bonus on your paycheck or something in the future.
>>
If you dont have the money to just straight up build one at once just order a part or two at a time and even if you have a crappy 10 dollar an hour job you could budget and have all the parts by 2-3 Months. You can drop around 750-900 (or even less in some cases) and build something that will run anything you want.

After you have one built and learn how to torrent, buy keys from G2A, and hit good at F2P games, you'll never want to go back to console.

Return over time in this case would be expressed by considering the savings produced on a pc platform as dividends. Iirc, save 30 bucks buying a game on steam - considered $30 ROI.
>>
>>703724595
Not really the case when you have siblings who want to come over get drunk eat and play fifa and fighting games. Never understood why the PC gamers hate consoles when they do offer something that a PC can't which is simplicity. I pop in a disk my brothers grab their controllers and we just go. Sitting on a couch no setup required or anything.

There are places in the USA, that use the federal minimum wage. 7.25

say you work 40 hour weeks. thats 290 a week, and 1160 a month, BEFORE taxes.

now lets assume your paying like 500 dollars for a small place in rent. lets assume for arguments sake, water and electricity is apart of your rent.

you still got to pay for internet, depending where you live, it ranges, but about 100 bucks a month. now most single people will eat on about 100-150 dollars a week, so lets say 100*4=400

you've got 160 dollars at the end of the month, for what? fucking gas for your car?

What annoys me is when people replace their case and ALL the peripherals with every upgrade, spending hundreds of dollars on just new not even better versions of shit they already have and they make up for it by gimping on the CPU and GPU.
And then they rigorously defend their compromised CPU/GPU choice as the best thing on the market with "best bang for your buck" arguments.
The beauty of PC is being able to upgrade the different components separately for best results as you are able.

lololol... Two console generations? What the fuck are you smoking? A $1200 pc built in 2013 would already be failing at most games on decent settings at 1080p. Doom, TW3, even world of warcraft with the newest update. Processors of that price range are fucked and most people went with 8gigs of ram in 2013, which is now not even close too acceptable.

There is no return either. A PC is needed regardless of cost or intended purpose. Either you need it and you have one, or you don't. It can be a $100 used laptop or a $5000 server build.
>>

Not where I live, people don't get their parents to buy them fucking TVs for their bedrooms before they leave HS. on top of that, any of my friends who are also living on their own, own shitty projection TVs or the likes.

Spent about $2k on it in the last 5 years, mostly because I want a PC that can do whatever I want it to.

A 4790K won't work worse in CAD in 5 years than now, it's not going to bottleneck games in the near future.

GTX780 is pretty outdated, will probably opt for the GTX1070/80 in a while. Money is earned a lot but spent little.

I built my rig for about 1k in 2014, runs everything on ultra, I don't play the latest games but I do take advantage of steam sales where I pick up games for $10 or less that I would've payed $60 at launch. Tower Design elevates all those issues you speak of, if you knew anything you'd know that making your own custom tower is pretty much the epoch, after that you can designed everything around it , including the cooling system. If you built the tower yourself then the wartersystem you designed for that tower would be perfect for it, installation wouldn't be a problem.

I paid 400€ for my PC.

important specs:
i5 quad 3.2ghz
nvidia gtx 960
8GB RAM
1TB HDD

I run witcher 3 on 1080p / ultra settings with 60fps (max refresh rate for my monitor)

I don't need some overpriced, under-performing console.
The only console-exclusive I ever cared about was Final Fantasy X. And before its HDD remake released on PC earlier this year, I simply emulated it.

I pirate games to try them out, and if I like them, I add them to my steam library.
I get all the mods I ever want.

Beyond that, I just pay 30€ per month for 50k internet access and all-net flat.

My PC was cheaper than any console, it performs better than current gen, and I have virtually all games for free, unless I decide to buy them out of admiration.

my pc cost just over 400 and runs games at higher performance than consoles. and i bought it in parts instead of buying 400 up front on a game system. sure you could save the money and then pay for the console up front, but then you need to understand that for graphics, a pc will typically run better at the same price range as a console. so prices are similar, with PC ranging at higher, but bang for buck is typically better on a PC.

LOL at everybody saying they can build a pc for $400-$500 that can perform better than a console. you can barely play games at a decent framerate with that shitty machine. which is ok but then you end up spending over 1K on a pc to play with good gfx. and then you spend even MORE upgrading your video card or cards and other shit just to make your pc perform a little bit better. all that just so your e-friends wont make fun of you.

just buy a PS4 and play with real friends.

>Building a pc doesnt require making your own case therfore your point is retarded
But you were bitching about the troubles of installing a watercooling loop, I just pointed out the fact the designing a case around your custom watercooling system would alleviate any problems you might face while installing said watercooling system.
But I just pointed out your superiority complex, and it's really fun to poke at you,m because you nitpick

My $400 pc can max anything before 2013 with over 60 fps. Can play anything current on medium to max with over 60fps 1080p. Consoles are locked medium settings 720p 30fps with a few exceptions going to 60fps. Educate yourself before you spout nonsense

thats not mine. mine only has lighted keyboard, mouse, and controller. keyboard and mouse because they came together and were cheap for mechanical keyboard and adjustable dpi mouse, and controller because it was one of those 30 buck 360 controllers

1100 watt psu

pretty damn sexy specs there. mine is shit compared to that, but it runs what i want without lag and well enough that i can place high in scoreboards. i still stand by my razer being good for what i got it for and how long its lasted. mouse on the other hand, tends to break down every year or so

Hello its me baby

If you're fine with used parts for the same price as consoles you can get a better rig. Won't run everything maxed but console doesn't run things higher graphics and fps than pc anyways. Although they are used parts. So there's that
>>
>>703736825
and some places do bundles, so you might get a CPU/GPU bundled for cheaper than they are separate
>>
>>703721521
Steam sales, pirating, no Xbox live/psn subscription... Yeah. It costs more upfront but the longterm savings are massive.
