Ask a member of the Australian house of representatives anything.

What benefits do you get?

Who are you?
Lower or Upper house?

I just said I was a member for the house of representatives. That automatically makes me a member of the lower house.
I represent Labor.
When i was 15 i sucked a few guys dicks from craigslist and swallowed their cum
*farts*
Glad to see I'm not the only politician on 4chan. But why can't you Aussies spell Labour properly?
>>703452462
how does it feel knowing your job means nothing
>>703452732
I believe we adopted the Labor spelling as an almost defiance of the British system upon becoming a federation.
Labour is still used when referring to the word itself, but we use Labor for the party as a "fuck you monarchy".
>>703452462
Yeah sometimes I read stuff.
Do you tow the party line like a bitch?

To be honest, I've gotten in trouble quite a few times for using my parliamentary privilege to some extremes during question time.
So lately I've been having greater party solidarity, just because I want to work for a few more years here.
However I still do abstain from voting on a lot of issues that I don't agree with.

I've heard lab and lib mps only play it up for the camera, and most of you guys are really fairly freindly behind the scenes. t/f?

We are fairly friendly in the sense we both work together for our country, even if it may seem that we're not.
We actually agree on most issues, but the 1 in 10 we don't get media coverage.
This is still a workplace, whilst it does often get heated, we are still civil a lot of the time.
But to be honest Shorten is good bloke, I don't have anything on him. He doesn't really talk to me though, I think I've had less than 10 conversations with him in my life.

No, but I've been threatened with forced retirement multiple times.

Probably how much the liberal party used to dolly dixon before this election.
They don't do it much now because they hardly form a majority.
>>703455586

What political correctness.
One nation has 4 seats in the senate.
We're at the time when there is a strong stand against political correctness.
It's great.
Plus with parliamentary privilege, the amount of unpolitical correct things that get said here without consequences is astounding.
We are not turning to a politically correct culture within government, though society is, and frontbenchers are.

In Australia, China is more important economically to us than the USA.
We honestly don't give a fuck about your dollar.
Except those of us who have invested in some of your companies.
But even most politicians have been selling those stocks in favour of Asian companies.
>>703457262
I've read horror stories about how Australia has become so politically correct it's not a good place to live if you value intelligence and facts. Though it they were all about interactions with other people rather than discussions of the politicians.
Do you guys have any plans to counter this and get your country moving towards sanity or is everyone just kind of shrugging about it?
>>703457461
Join the Labor or Liberal club at your University.

Carbon tax.
>>703457495
Members of parliament are trying to get the words offend and insult out of the discrimination act.
Which would allow greater freedom of speech.
But see the thing in Australia is, we really do not have any "rights" per se, except a couple of minor things such as freedom of interstate trading.
So the people really don't currently have freedom of speech.
So I'm a little worried about how things will go.
But Australia is not very politically correct, there is a strong push towards politically correctness by some. But it is nothing compared to other countries.
Australia is very very very anti muslim for example.
That's why Pauline Hanson got 4 seats in the Senate this year.

Not OP, but I am Aussie, so I can tell you that it's not as bad as it seems.
Among most normal people, PC is disregarded as blown-out-of-proportion BS. It's mostly the mainstream media, goverment and big city folk (that don't have to deal with irritating abos daily) who go out of their way to blow it up to American levels. And it all stems from the influence of the US.
I mean, I have several coon friends, and they're more racist to blacks than anyone I know. The main thing to remember is if it's on prime time television and one of the mainstream channels, it'll be lefty-biased bullshit.

Also if a party has the majority, which the government always does. And then one of those members breaks a rule to do with corruption.
A censure motion being successfully passed against them is unlikely.
As that motion requires more than half of the house to vote against them.
And party solidarity means you cant vote against your party.
Therefore a member of the government can pretty much do anything they wish.
>>703452108
How do you feel about nuclear power?
Who was your favorite PM?
>>703459521
I believe in Australia we should focus on renewables such as hydro, wind and solar.
However this is unlikely to happen.
Our government is controlled by the mines.
We have the worst power in the developed world.
>>703459604

>>703459763

>>703459703
Do you think there is value in having nuclear power for carbon free baseload generation, in addition to renewables? A diverse carbon free energy portfolio seems pretty important these days, although I will admit to a strong pro-nuke bias. I'm pretty confident that wind and solar alone are not a sufficient energy sector to power any industrialized nation, though.
Also you guys have a bunch of uranium domestically, production would be easy.
>>703452937
I figured it was spelled labour because that's the original spelling that was translated from the french. "we took out the u so we can use it to say fuck u" i don't get it, it's a word.
>>703460007
Australia also has a huge huge huge huge huge amount of uninhabitable land, whereby massive wind farms could be enough to power our nation, whilst also not harming ecosystems too much because of the low biodiversity within those areas, and the factors that go into the fauna and flora survival there.
Many Australians are opposed to nuclear power, as well as most ministers of parliament.
A solar, wind, and hydro reform seems more likely than to us switching to nuclear power.
>>703460115
Labor is used within the United States.
England uses the word Labour.
However I am unsure as to why my party spells it Labor, the whole fuck you Britannia thing was all I could think of.
>>703453605
Dat ass.
Have you fucked any other politicians?
Why are Oz taxes so high?
>>703452108
Is it possible that australia will ditch USA for china?
>>703460261
That's fair. Having a decent transmission grid would be vital, though. If the power is being generated somewhere uninhabitable you'll need to get it somewhere else to be used. I can't speak to the impact on local biodiversity.
I do know that solar and wind, I have little experience with hydro, there are major issues with power consistency. Small fluctuations in the power delivered by those techs can do actual physical damage to industrial machinery and to the power grid itself. Germany is having this issue right now, they've over committed to solar and wind and are having to take some of it off the grid because it is doing damage. Also their electricity prices are something like three times the price in the US. I don't know what your energy prices are like, but with your natural gas reserves I suspect they are pretty low right now.
It looks like coal (black and brown) makes up 64% of your energy sector, as of 2013. Do you think it's possible to phase all that out with just renewables?
>>703452108
I am the member for Moncrieff.....
>>703457594
Yeah nah cunt...
>>703460536
Unlikely.
We rely on the US's naval power to protect our 2 shipping lanes that go to asia. We NEED those lanes protected as they're our hub to the rest of the world or else trade gets disrupted and we heavily rely on trade for income. Even though China is a larger trading partner than the US, we still value lane protection a higher priority than one trading partner as without safe lanes, there is no trade.
In short, unless China can produce a navy worthy of challenging the US navy in size and power, we won't be ditching the US.

Same issue we have here in the states, I see. Thanks for being willing to chat about energy policy. It's not the most thrilling of topics, but one I'm pretty big on. Global warming is a bastard, and I'm not sure we have decades to wait.
>>703461200
You still wont get freedom of speech with the removal of 18c.
The only people who get freedom of speech are politicians, because we get parliamentary privilege.
You have no constitutional rights to give you any such freedom, and legislation such as the 2005 anti-terrorism act mean show that by statute law we deny your freedom of speech.
And people who cite the 1992 case which gives implied freedom of speech.
Look at the Albert Langer case of 1996.
We locked him up for telling people not to vote for the two main political parties.
>you have no rights.
>>703461387
At least the United States is attempting to make reforms unlike us.
Our last prime minister even denied global warming existed.
Which will take 50 years.
However for all the US's faults, I feel safer with fellow westerners at the head of the table, rather than one of the most barbaric regimes in history.
>>703461525
At least the United States has constitutional rights for their people.
>>703461476
Man made global warming is a myth. He was right.
How can I get in to parliament?
>I am an ALP member
>>703461476
Oh, we have plenty of politicians who deny global warming as well, thankfully none have been president (yet). Trump has said that global warming is a Chinese conspiracy to harm the US. This is what we're working with over here. It's a fucking shit show.
Our EPA is being slowly dismantled, it has way fewer teeth than it used to, the public is clamoring to shutter our nuclear plants (20% of our national energy production is nuclear) and we don't really have plan to replace anything that isn't coal or natural gas.
I'm hoping that things change. With the Paris accords at least being an acknowledgment that there is indeed a problem, and the Obama administration actually mentioned nuclear as a valuable carbon free technology in an energy policy document. But that doesn't mean much.
Chances are, if I want to help build new reactors, the generation four+ hotness, I'm going to have to move to China, maybe India or Brazil. As those nations modernize they are going to have power demands that dwarf the rest of the world. I have no idea how we can handle that sort of demand as a world without heavy investment in nuclear, or going with coal/gas and destroying the planet.

If you actually listen to the australianiggers, they say that they are being (medically)genocided. Not because of race, but because of beliefs.
>>703472142
a royal commission is painting people with the same brush??? there was royal commission into the catholic church, no one is painting any brush but sometimes peoples security needs to be breached for the betterment and safety of our people. Also mate you need to have a look what culture the western world has been built of. And I do believe I have a right to have 'fear' I do not support public killings and terror attacks and I'd like to see Australia safe. Mate, just look what is happening in Europe, before you start painting me with the 'bogan brush'
i hope everyone you ever loved gets cancer.

If I collected screencaps of an Aussie denying the holocaust on Facebook, and I mailed them to the Sydney police, would it get em arrested?
>>703473211
No, freedom of speech. Would be a ridiculous if they did, this isn't Germany. Also I'm not OP
>>703472033
No, voting works wonders.
It's amazing the situation we're in at the moment, where there is a very small majority, it means the government cant abuse their majority.
When I say we work together for the good of the nation, I mean it.
But you vote for the changes which have to do with party ideology, that is what we have disputes about.
The 1/10 cases is what you're voting for.
>>703472350
Yay
>>703472774
It is actually so fun
>>703472867
they're not.
>>703472142
problem is the minority has major effects everyday
>>703473335
We don't have freedom of speech in Australia, sorry to break it to you.
Except me, me and the members of house of representatives get freedom of speech.
You don't.
>>703473211
but no, holocaust denial is still fine, theres no common law case that outlaws it and no statute law that outlaws it.
>>703473437
How do we not get freedom of speech, also do you have children? yes or no?
>>703472980
The fact that you actually think that way is fear inducing in itself.
>what culture the western world has been built of
Literally the same shit you're terrified of the Muslims doing, what is wrong with you?.
>>703473354
>problem is the minority has major effects everyday
True, the government for example.
>>703453099
You are a pack of useless cunt so it feels like im not getting my moneys worth is how it feels.
>>703473437
>Except me, me and the members of house of representatives
IF only you actually had something to say.
>>703473576
You have no constitutional right giving you freedom of speech.
The only real implied freedom of speech is a 1992 court case
But the 2005 Anti terrorism act as well as the 1996 trial of Albert Langer, prove that you have no real freedom of speech.
In fact you have very few human rights
Except right to jury
Freedom of religion
Freedom from interstate discrimination
And freedom of interstate trading.
I do have children.
>>703473660
Just like Islam is a political ideology as well.
>>703473784
So, are you gonna push for a freedom of speech amendment for all Australians? or just sit there and say you like being a polly
What's my chances of being appointed a Judge or Magistrate if I'm just a good barrister from a no-name family? How much of the attorney's dick am I going to have to suck? Is the judical reform committee actually going to change anything? Do you have anything to do with this at all?
>>703473437
>>703473335
"While Australia lacks a specific law against Holocaust denial, Holocaust denial is prosecuted in Australia under various laws against "hate speech" and "racial vilification". Gerald Fredrick Töben and his Adelaide Institute are the best-known case of someone being prosecuted in Australia for Holocaust denial.

Trust me, if us backbenchers knew, word would get out and it wouldn't be a secret anymore.

With an economics degree can I still be a house of representative, or do you really need a history/law degree to be taken seriously.
>>703459763
How often do you suck Chris Bowen's cock then?
>>703474544
Economics degree would be fine if you had the connections to start with.
But if you don't have connections, it will be a really really long path around
But it still possible though.
And with an economics degree, once youre in it will be easy to get promoted to being in the ministerial.

Has OP shat himself
Honest question, why are you assholes deliberately destroying the country? Neither Labour or Liberal actually listen to their voters, nor do they care what they think. You cunts also have zero backbone, and your current policies will absolutely damage the country be young repair within the next century - providing we're not all dead then due to Climate Change, which is something you idiots refuse to acknowledge exist, or refuse to acknowledge at all. The problem is the Liberal government and their attempt to bring Australia back to the 1950s.
Labor looks to the future.

I do care about Australia.
But the problem is there is very little I can do.
I could suddenly rant and say that every cunt in this room is fucked, but i'd probably get fired.
I have successfully put forward motions that have been extensively discussed, but as a backbencher, my role is limited, and my time to actually talk in the house is limited.

fucking taxi faggot - you cunts have been ripping off consumers for ever. Go cry a fucking river now your monopoly is gone and seriously, no fucks are given by the rest of us.
This reply shows your severe lack of knowledge on the issue. Taxi licenses are around 400 grand not to mention the fees they pay such as insurance to keep you nob jokeys safe. Not against competition just against unregulated international companies coming in and fucking our industry while paying 0 tax. How about we let that happen to every industry? Fuck me that'll work out well won't it dipstick?

irony much because your reply is total bs - taxi licenses don't cost taxi companies 400K each you fucking moron - that is what it costs a single private operator.
Personally, I don't give a shit if Uber is smart enough to minimal tax in this country - it's called tax minimisation for a reason and if you were in that kind of financial position you would do it too. To say Uber pays zero tax in Australia is a complete lie you fucktard. They pay what they are legally required to pay. And their drivers pay tax just like the rest of us - do your own fucking research faggot.
>>703480502
Just to add this to your point, Australian people will be the uber drivers. So Australian jobs are not taken away they are just moved to different people.

>basic human morals
Being a politician in any country is a profession for sociopaths. Morals don't apply. Selling yourself to the highest bidder and following "party discipline" pretty much force you out if you're not willing to tow the line.
You can see the bragging about sex, money, privilege and lack of any concern whatsoever for people, community, country. This is the essence of a politician.

>>703482639
No she doesnt believe in Climate change.
But I do agree that there are certain things in Islam that we should be scared of.
Glad to hear it's been brought up and hope some action comes of it. Sets an extremely dangerous precident and I worry for the future of other sectors if other companies like uber can so easily inject themselves into heavily regulated industry without so much as paying a cent. Makes it impossible for those already there to even try and compete.
Not even going to continue talking to the other halfwit. His lack of knowledge on the subject is laughable. A quick google search doesn't make you an expert and ignoring the wider implications of the rulings for uber just shows how much of an idiot you are.
>>703482983
Please provide us with the proof that climate change is real oh powerful one.
On that point - when the actual problem is the rampant population growth of the human species why the fuck doesn't anybody bother talking about that? Growth isn't perpetual you know.

Sorry I'm gonna have to burst your bubble here ausfag:
1. You don't have freedom of speech either, you are bound by social convention like anyone else. Try insulting your party leaders, electorate, and the Queen, talk about how you like loli, and see how far that gets you.
2. Your income won't even get you halfway to the 1% in the USA, so unless you're pulling in serious corruption money on the side I'm not impressed.
3. Your getting comped free drinks and vacations doesn't come off as impressive, it's the same with any corrupt local cop and mobster.
4. Your job is to keep the common people in line so the rich can keep their holdings intact and free from molestation, you seem to have forgotten you are their bitch and "rule" nothing
5. Pics or it didn't happen. Post your ID and go down in a flame of glory. I'll even buy you a beer - how's that for corruption?
>>703484951
1. I might get fired, but by law I can say it with protection, unlike most people who have no proection.
2. Implying I don't have investments.
3. Oh well, I still don't have to pay for anything so I don't mind.
4. I didn't say I rule anything.
5. No.
