I got two programs. The first one simply downloads all threads whose URI I put into a text file, and periodically checks on all threads. It uses the 4chan JSON API. The underlying backend I all programmed in C - HTTP parser, SOCKS handshake, JSON parser, memory management (got totally rid of all malloc/free calls and use my own implementation that does not need any userspace locks).
The second program uses the same backend library and iterates through a given directory until it reaches the end of the tree. It creates a file list, states all files, and compares device and inode number with each other. If they don't match, the file length is compared. If those match, then the files are mapped into memory and compared.
If everything checks through, the second file is deleted, and a hard link is created to the first link. Because I want to keep all images in their respective thread directories.

No, I also download the images. Of course I do. Otherwise my program wouldn't make much sense.

Simple binary comparison. Mapping in both files, then doing memcmp. I once had code that would also remove metadata from images, but that code is like 4 years old, it was written in C++, and it was gutter trash.
