The Cyclone II at the end is my idea of a what a Jag-Stang is supposed to be and not that ugly KC one. It used to be Daphne blue but it's aged to a nice teal/surf green

Anons you all seem pretty new, and I'm gonna give you some advice because I like you fags and I want to see the guitar world improve.
I've been playing guitar for over a decade and I've picked up a few things. First off, stop buying shit guitars. That $100 squier from the pawn shop is going to break down on you fast. If you want a decent guitar, try to spend at LEAST $300-400, and that's used. While I'm on that note, buy used guitars. Amps and pedals are another story, but used guitars are totally worth it. Good guitars can take a serious beating, don't be afraid to be used. My most recent purchase is normally about $1,200 new, I got it used in great condition WITH a hardshell case for about $550.
Buy a guitar that suits your style. Above all else, if you're getting your first guitar, look for playability and build quality rather than tone. Your ear is not gonna be able to tell the difference between good tone if you just started playing- not by a long shot. Especially when it's coming out of that piece of shit Line 6 Spider you just got. On that note, STOP FUCKING BUYING LINE 6 SPIDERS. If you want a cheap modeling amp, look in to the Peavey Vypyr series. You'll get wayyyy better results from that than a Spider.
Back to guitars- if you want something pointy for that br00t4l metal, don't buy a fucking B.C. Rich or a Dean. Their high end stuff is pretty good, but their $300 bedroom bangers are absolutely garbage. Try looking for a nice Jackson RR or an Ibanez. Or check out ESP/LTD, they perfected stealing ideas from other companies and improving on them. If you want metal but dont need the pointy stuff, also check out Schecter, and or some PRS guitars. For lighter music, try looking at Gibson and Fender and whatnot. No, not that fucking Squier that came with an amp, you definitely want to drop down about $400 or more if you want to get in to Fenders, and that's used. Fender's low end guitars are suprisingly shitty for such a big company.

If you get a guitar with a locking whammy bar system, it better either be an Original Floyd Rose or a Kahler. No, not some licensed floyd shit, not some ibanez edge 3. Either an Original floyd rose (OFR), or Kahler, if you want to be weird.
Learn some basic maintenance too. Repair shops will fuck you in the ass with their prices- no lube either. Learn how to change strings, because its really NOT hard at all. It gets a little complicated if you have a locking whammy bar, but that's about it. Learn how to adjust your action, and fix your intonation. All those little knobs and screw pieces you see everywhere on guitars? If it's on the outside of the guitar, it's meant for you to be able to adjust. Guitar manufacturers want you to be able to adjust your gear to your liking. Find what you like, and stick with it. Oh and for fucks sake, change your strings once in a while. Or at least get coated strings. I use Elixer coated .10-.52s, and those bad boys can go a WHILE before needing a change.
And lastly, above all else, find what you like and HAVE FUN. I would NOT still be playing guitar a decade later if it wasnt amazing fun for me. If you stick with it, you will learn so much and grow immensely. All of this stuff I've posted is only a small fraction of what I've learned as far as gear goes. I haven't even touched on the actual musical and technique side. I'm not saying that brag in the slightest bit- if you've played for as long as I have and practiced as frequently as I have, you will ABSOLUTELY be just as good, if not better than me. Acoustic folk/punk sounds amazing. I mainly write and perform in that style. I also play a lot of grunge which sounds beautiful coming out of this guitar. Chords sound very rich, and guitar bends are very easy. It was a steal for 300 bucks new

I have an 87 ibanez Sabre. It's by far the guitar I've fallen in love with the most. It's a great guitar. Most ibanez guitars have good build quality and tone. The prices vary greatly. Go for something cheap first.

When buying your first amp you'll see the question of "Tube or Solid State?" Now you could be a cheeky Cunt like me an get a Hybrid of the two a cheap Music Man from the 1970s or you can keep reading and see what will be best for you. First is maintenance, Solid State is very simple and it's just like a game console, turn on to play and off when you're done. That's pretty much it but some flaws you may find with solid state is that most companies make them cheap to sell them cheap. If you reach a high enough level on a bad SS amp you'll hear a "hiss" or static in the background while you play and this is a no go. Also solid state will not be as loud as tube so 100 watts of volume power in a solid state wouldn't be more than around 15-25w on a tube.
Good starter SS amps will be
Roland Cube series
ZT Lunchboxes
Orange Crush Series
Roland Jazz Chorus JC-120(super good but $300 if that's out of range)
Fender Mustang Series (very versatile)
Now onto tube, tube amps are the most classic and most utilized type of amp. The tone from it sounds very "organic"
Meaning no type of digital effect was used in making your guitar sound that way, if you want gain you crank it up, if you want clean you balance the settings. Tubes for the most part will not have that hiss or static you get with SS amps unless your using a bunch of heavy gain pedals at once that interfere with the electrical signal. With tubes there's a bit of maintenance to do as well. The tubes in the back can die out and damage the amp so it's important to warm them up before playing. On high wattage tube amps there should be an ON switch and a STANDBY switch. Whe turning on a tube amp you first flip it on and hopefully a light with indicate that it's on. Then you flip the STANDBY switch to off after about 5-10 minutes after you flipped the ON, and there you'll be able to play. Many companies make their name off tube amps so its not too hard to find a good one

It's not hard at all if you have patience. Bolt on necks are very easy to take off, but easy to fuck up when installing. Fretboards just require glue, vices, and pliers.

Yeah, ideally, most people are gonna be using tube amps for good tone. I personally am still rocking on a B-52 AT 112, 60w model. Those were all the rage in like 2010. I actually just swapped the tubes on them, and I've been nothing but satisfied.
And yeah I'm not a big solid state guy, but the Roland JC-120 is well known for being pretty damn kickass for cleans

Are you based in America? If you are, I would take a look on the Guitar Center website, and look in their used section- they can ship to wherever. If not, try looking around on ebay. For some Megadeth like stuff, try looking for a used Schecter, LTD, or Ibanez. Avoid any kind of bridge that has a whammy bar on it, because cheap whammy bar systems are a god damn nightmare to deal with.

A-fuckin-men. Kahlers apparently also work well, but those are weird and I don't like change. I had a guitar with a licensed and it was a chore to take care of. My main guitar now has an OG floyd rose and it's awesome. Obviously still more work than just a normal bridge, but hey it stays in tune no matter what

Check all the electronics are working- get it plugged in, turn every single knob and switch on the guitar. Give it a nice shake while holding it firmly, so it doesn't rattle. And lastly, make sure it's easy to play. I can't recommend playability for people new to guitar. I want to feel like I'm working WITH my guitar, not playing against it.
Oh and lastly, it's very easy to do cosmetic damage to a guitar, but surprisingly tough to do actual, serious harm to one. Guitars nowadays are pretty damn tough.

but I must say Reverend guitars are high build quality. Mine is made from Korina which is a really responsive wood. It was one of the more expensive models (referring to the BC-1) but I suppose I would say Its worth the $
