Look at the way the mainstream academic community shuts down any scientist who does research, or even produces legitimate data, supporting the idea that there is a biological basis for average differences in intelligence and temperament among different ethnicites, like different breeds of humans. Look at the wars that happened between those with collectivist social ideologies and individualist ones in Eastern Europe in the last century. Agnostic means you don't know, or don't think it can be known.
It's a difference between your ideas about belief in God, and knowledge of God. Not mutually exclusive, as they aren't even talking about the same thing.
For example, I don't think it is posdible to conclusively know if there is a God - I don't think faith or "revelation" proves anything about an ultimate creator, so all the religions are wrong - but I believe an ultimate intelligence behind reality seems likely.
