Leave food out somewhere check back daily. I lost my cat for 2 months till I left food out and he came back. Most of the time cats just get lost/scared of something but food works well to bring them back home.

We have a cat by the name of Hannibal.
He saved me, my parents and the house from burning down.
3 years ago around 4AM the coffemaker caught fire
(there were a big surge in the grid and the house is old with old outlets).
Hannibal ran around the house and meowed(?) like a siren, acting like a firealarm we didn't have.
He warned us when the fire was in it's early stage, so it was easy to putout with only minor damage to the house.
Hannibal is mean but caring.. and will probably kill us all one day
