The nature of war has changed over the decades. The USA has missiles all over the pacific floor ready to launch at a moments notice.
Any aircraft that tries to drop infantry on American soil will be decimated before they even come within kilometers of our shores.
Same goes with naval fleet. The American army has the Chinese beat and they know it. So much so that the Chinese stole a blue print of an American aircraft carrier after many failed attempts of making their own.
Maybe back then just throwing soldiers at the enemy will over whelmed them. In today's day and age, half of those will be killed by drone strikes, the other half marred by the citizens of the US, not even by the army.

They somehow think this is how much they owe other countries and how much other countries owe them.
When in reality it is a debt made by their own Government to pay for the promises of healthcare, emergency services etc in the form of loans they have taken out with banks to pay for them.
The US treasury cannot afford to pay for that.
And to pay it off it relies on taxation of its citizens.
Not the GDP that people think, the GDP is gross domestic profit of businesses and people of the US, the government doesn't own or receive all of it. Only the taxes from the profits.
However, since people want Trump in so badly, you can kiss goodbye to more of that tax as Trump relaxes it to encourage more business.
Now more business does not mean more success for the US, it means more money for companies and less taxes for the coffers.
This national debt doesn't get helped by the fact people get massive rebates on their taxes every year, and of course the government spending on their Military which is 500bn more than China per year.
So that 19.5 trillion dollar National Debt will never be paid off, and with Trump in power, it will spiral out of control.
The real winners? Banks, they are living off the profit very well.
That's right your national debt also has interest because they are loans.
Wake up America, this is going on around the world, you need to learn your economy more and not trust promises etc made by either the Republicans or Democrats.

There are at least a few of us currently serving in the military, and if you think we don't continually have these conversations about the possibility of war against X,Y,& Z nations pretty regularly when shooting the shit with our commanders, you are wrong. Every time we get an update on some system some country acquires, our equipment changes to accommodate the potential of facing off against it, it's not everyone's job. A bus driver or cook probably doesn't give a fuck, but for those of us in a technical job, what we do every day revolves around these possible scenarios.
If there's a scenario you can imagine, any at all, the pentagon has a series of plans for it. That's their job. And maintaining readiness to implement any of those plans at a moments notice is our job. So it requires we be at very least familiar with what these conflicts would look like.
There are only 2 countries that could conceivably destroy our defenses, and they're China and Russia, and they both have far too many of their own ambitions to put it all on hold and blow all their resources doing that for zero gain. We're completely safe from annihilation the foreseeable future.
