MGS5 here. Love the whole franchise but this and Snake Eater cone in for a tie. Probably because it tells the story of the legacy of the name "Big Boss" and it's significance.
I sold my soul to Todd Howard for special beta pool privileges so I'm already shackled to Fallout. Any of the series they're all good even the ones Bethesda didn't make.

As much as I liked 5, it was a massive missed opportunity
The story was unfinished and the curveball at the end was totally pointless and stupid. It was also pretty messy, skullface never posed as a threat, and he's got a Metal Gear for the sake of the story, some generic virus that makes no sense, and was just a real nobody. A lot of the characters were literally thrown in as fan service, especially the man on fire ... why?
The gameplay was great BUT the 'inbetween' missions to pad the story was only there to pad the game, especially near the end where you have to do the same missions again on 'hard mode' just to progress the story, which just seemed poorly paced and badly structured.
I know Konami fucked it up, but the game had too many glaring problems that just didn't make it that amazing to me,

Too true m8. Too many parts in the game got repetitive or just a straight up waste of space. But for me, the main story of Venom turning out to be a double for the real Big Boss was great. It tied everything up with how Big Boss "survived" Operation Intrude.
Pisses me off how Konami sacked Kojima and how they just wasted an opportunity by revamping Snake Eater with the Fox Engine and then having it be a fucking pachinko game, but if they're thinking of continuing the franchise, I hope to holy hell that they don't fuck everything up. How? Both games lack in RPG. Fallout 3 and NW are practically the same in combat with F4 being an improvement. F4 lacks any RPG elements with every choice the player picks leading to the same out come (as with fallout 3). I've played NV for 500 plus hours and still haven't completed some dlc and some side quests

I disagree, the ambience felt perfect for the sort of wild west feel they were going for, also it was alot more fun to explore the desert wasteland then it was the dark gloomy city and the amount of tiny hidden easter eggs that make you laugh and think back to the other games is huge. And walking around the strip all lit up at night was so cool, giving you an awesome goal to get to that you can see from pretty much anywhere in the wasteland

Bethesda gave Obsidian only 18 months to develop New Vegas. They were given an outdated engine to develop on and pressured for time. Caesar's Legion was supposed to be a lot more in depth but had to be left out because of time constraints. Considering how great New Vegas still is its really sad what happened and what could have been.

I was able to play through nearly the entire game with just a laser-musket, I could one or two-shot nearly everything. Deathclaws posed no threat (except for the first one). Power armor requires no training and it's only limitation is fusion cores (which I already had an abundance of). It retcons a bunch of lore (mainly regarding to power armor). In the better fallout games you had to earn power armor, enemies were still formidable even with a large supplies of stimpacks (especially deathclaws), deathclaws couldn't be easily killed with 10mm's, you had a lot more dialog choices, and companions and other NPCs weren't flat and bland. So if you compare Fo4 to any of the previous Fallout games (with the exception of 3 and BoS) it is beneath trash.

it's still Beta, and has its fair share of troubles, but given the possibilities what it allows you can do in it, it's an amazing game. just alone the capability to use C# in-game to code events and triggers is impressive. not to mention the moddability

To be fair, the story is the main asshole is a veteran of the alaskan offensive, and was one of the first soldiers in power armor. Thus why he knows how to use it. That doesnt detract from how shit the game was. Truly, obsidian\black isle are the only people who should touch fallout. That only happens if you cheat, or play on bitch difficulty. And for the power armour, it's possible for Nate to have been a power armour troop, I have no clue for Nora though. And as for being a power fantasy, like I said before, if you play on a low difficulty, it's going to be easy. You can always get mods to make things harder if you want to, or set restraints on yourself. From what I can tell, you played New Vegas only, I really doubt you played 1 or 2. You could get power armor in those games withing 5 minutes of gameplay, and become an unstoppable force of god, all you had to do to get OP weapons was skip some of the plot and go straight for the end game story, like going to Navarjo or whatever, and having the enclave gear you up.
If you want to be a spoil sport, that's fine, just dont pin it on us because you don't like it.

Yeah, I have a low-end computer. Can play Skyrim on medium, HL2 on high, Starbound is kinda slow. Space Engineers blows the thing up though unless I do medium-low settings and have it in 800x600 for some reason.
