It's alive and it saves species from doomed planets.
I'll post the inside, which grows a chair around you when you need it.
>>698737363
I'm sure it did. But conceptually -- beyond just the needs of a militaristic attributes needed for an action game -- I think it's still neat. I like to think it can separate the sphere section, so the sphere bit can stay as an oribiting medical facility while the drive section gets down to other business.
>>698737603

water is actually a very bad conductor
and with that size of ship you would have a very hard time creating a power surge,
that is strong enough since you want lots of current to pass through the water while the ship hull is a much better conductor

>>698747424
probably because mac rounds are a cunt to aim
>>698747086
no it doesn't punch through the shields, in the books the only way is for two MAC rounds really, one to blast the shield and the second would tear through. Most ships however only had one MAC gun and would get demolished
FTW
>>698736877
Why would they do a retarded ship like that, there is no air on space so no need to make a ship with shapes, good thing and economical, efficient would be to make an square like a building in space.

>>698747752
they do however go on planet sometimes and also they need to be streamlined for hyperspace and shit, also space isn't a perfect vacuum there's tons of dust and shit like that out there, the less area to have to shield from it the better. Hitting a piece of dust at like half the speed of light would be like an atom bombs worth of damage to the hull if it weren't shielded
>>698738375
Does it demand special rights in-line with its fluidity?

It IS underrated. Most SciFi geeks who didn't watch the show much have forgotten: This ship wasn't even armed. At all. No shields of any kind. Hell, they could barely keep the damned thing together, fueled, and flying.
And look at all they did with it.

For the idiot talking about Infinity's shields being inferior to convenent forces...
https://youtu.be/XspBNSyvFDk?t=286
The Infinity uses forerunner tech that is well beyond what the convenent ever figured out. Remember the Covenent were hampered by believing the forerunners were gods and their tech was holy and had to be respected and worshiped. Where as humans were just like "thank you very much" and used the stuff.
>>698747561
Reminds me of Captain Harlock... gotta go find that ship.
>>698748033
>Hitting a piece of dust at like half the speed of light would be like an atom bombs worth of damage to the hull if it weren't shielded
It is more like a Boeing 737 crashing straight into the hull at landing speed.
>>698747974
hahaha fuck yeah
>>698748817
Finally!
>>698749285
Bitch please.
>>698748033
Well, ships like that size i think are called motherships, and since they are so big like a minicity, they cant land on a planet cause imagine the structural shit that you would need to do for doing that instead of just orbit such planets, and with the shield issue, well a building with a cone in the direction of travel like the empire state building, but i think there is no shield anyway that could make it at thosee speeds, maybe some sort of magnetic shield.
>>698749698
no the infinity's shields were entirely modeled right off of covenant technology
>>698749871
forgot pic, kek
>>698749313
I had no idea, then they would stay together a bit.
>>698747752
Kinda hard to fit anything in a square.
>>698749285
Space is not a perfect vacuum. There's still a ton of stuff floating around. Granted heat transfer isn't as efficient in space it still happens. Go read up on the apollo 13 situation for more information on cooling/heating in space.
>>698749890
no the federation ships weren't "motherships" and yes they would enter a planets atmosphere. They had shielding for warp speed travel similar to slip space stuff, star trek for being pretty unlikely actually thought out a lot of it's technology long before most other franchises did
>>698748650
Oh?
>>698749900
Nope try again. There's a reason the infinity smashed through an armored cruiser like a hot knife through butter...
The whole concept of the infinity was to put forerunner technology into practical use. Engines shields and more are all either directly forerunner tech or based on it.
>>698749313
you just went full retard, and btw heat radiates as well..... and yes things freeze in space
>>698739123
/x/ pls go
>>698749313
>you mean like icy comets and frozen moons? Like heat doesn't radiate outwards like it does everywhere in the universe?
>>698750353
not going to go full dork off on you but read the books, it went through it because it knocked it's shields out first. The forerunners were barely even known about at the point the infinity was made
>>698749313
o yeah I forgot that's why infrared doesn't work anywhere in the universe because heat doesn't radiate it just transfers to other matter lol
>>698739453
Fuck yeah. Why the fuck shouldn't a space ship be shaped like a gun?
If this was a best ship thread I'd go with the Forward Unto Dawn, High Charity, the Cobra Mk 3 or the Constellation Aquila, but this is an underrated ships thread so...
The Imperial Cutter is always underratred, awesome all-round ship if you ask me
>>698750634
>>698750634
Your ignorance is hilarious. The Infinity was exiting slipspace and fired nothing before ramming. The ramming itself took out the shields and then the armor of the armored cruiser. They are called armored cruisers because they have far higher defenses than your average covenant cruiser.
The books are of questionable cannon. Cannon is the infinity was heavily based on Forerunner tech hence the severe issues they had when they ran into the didact..

Only thought the engines where forerunner because it said so in the halo shows when they brought the artifact onboard, but then huge object hitting small object at super light speed I imagine delegates the shield vs shield argument lol, ijs
>>698750353
>>698750634
it uses both. there is an explanation about it in halo 4...even i remember it and i only played that game once when it was first released.
from the wiki - Infinity was a starship technology demonstrator, using recovered technology found during the war against the Covenant Empire and from Forerunner facilities and installations.

I'm afraid I have to tell you that the only Forerunner tech in the Infinity are the engines themselves, which is mentioned in Spartan Ops, also, the infinity is able to ram that covie ship in half much like a similar-sized covie ship would, shields are more powerfull the bigger the shield generator, and the bigger the ship the bigger the shield generator
Still I mighty ship tho
