Will /b/ be picking up this game? Any thoughts on it?
why do read the day one reviews (ps4)...I'm waiting until Friday for PC version.
Yeah, seems good
also nice dubs
No.
It will lose its luster after a week.
>>698683966
Looks to be pretty cool...
But again, PC Gaming MASTERRACE reporting in here... So just waiting for the release!
Cant wait though!
its drm free, why would I pay for such a thing?
>>698684305
Which website should I preorder on pirate bay or kick ass torrents?
Get paid Friday so I'll get the steam version
>>698684436
kickass is RIP i think, and pirate bay is shit. I'd just use skidrow directly from their website at this point, or something of the like
>>698683966
I'm worried about it becoming super repetitive very fast.
>land on planet
>explore
>leave planet
>repeat
I'm hoping it doesn't become really grindy. But let's be real, it probably will.
>>698684521
i watched the twitch stream and it actually did not look all that bad, He was selling and exploring shit
Also side note combat does not seem that bad
Saw gameplay in YouTube. Didn't really tickle my pickle
>>698684521
you can do trading as well I think. It's a bit like Elite Dangerous.
>>698684521
Of course it will lol
>different color sky
>different color animals
>different color foliage
>occassional dog fight
>rinse and repeat
Plus a day 1 patch, wtf? Buy game, wait an hour for to play it.
>>698684730
I'll check out the videos and reviews once the game comes out before I decide to commit to it. Don't really want another grindy ass game in my life atm
>>698684800

ya if it does not have overall good ratings i dont download
At the moment is seems pretty lackluster. Explore ugly looking worlds then leave and explore some more.
What would make it great would be IMO building a colony on your new planet, and then being able to attack other people's colonies through conquest.
>>698685639
this also denuvo is dead, long live piracy

i don't know about that just because of the scale but they have hinted on base building in the next update

I know. The entire point of the game is to get to the center of the universe. But what the fuck is the point if you just find weird algorithms of creatures and planets? That shit would get stale after a few hours.
Let me guess, you want to defend it because you already wasted $60 pre-ordering it?

no thank you
>>698683966
No, the game doesnt have any meaningful content. There is nothing to do and nothing to explore.

Good thing we got the neckbeards to find the center for us.
>>698686687
I didn't waste anything you idiot. I know what it'll be like and I want that. I already have Elite Dangerous and that's pretty much the same. I ordered it yesterday...how is that me "wasting" my money when I've obviously been following it for a couple of years.
Does anyone know if the game actually has a point to it? I keep hearing about the procedural generation, the size etc. But is there anything else? Missions, end game content etc? Or is it just fly around til it gets boring?
I really like the idea of the game but it kinda seems like a bunch of shiny wrapping around stale bread.
>>698686908
To be fair females wouldn't be present in my life either way.

its probably going to become boring really fast since you have to create your own story, and most gamers don't have the patience for it. also, since it has so many star systems it'll probably take ages before you find someone and then you're lucky even.

Going to die faster than Pokemon Go. About the same death as Spore when it released with the same concept of wandering around aimlessly and naming things... only that game let you create and evolve creatures and it still died.
>>698687840
You didn't provide an argument, only inflammatory rhetoric to piss off that guy. If you don't like it, just ignore it man. I probably won't get No Man's Sky just because it seems like it really would get stale, but who knows maybe that guy has a lot of money to waste.

Only played a couple hours so far but loving it.
I didn't really expect I'd have to constantly hunt for resources to power my suit and for fuel and to even power my damn mining gun but in still loving it
it will be fun for a month but it really is minecraft in space without the building. i would probably have a bunch more fun if i could find a home base planet/system. build a huge thing, occasionally defend it and kinda just live there. but w/e

>>698683966
Was just watching DansGaming on Twitch a little while ago. Tbh looks like it will get boring quick. Needs some quality-of-life updates for sure.

Its possible to exchange coordiantes so you can easily find eachother. Good luck getting from the other part of the galaxy though.

Its an indie game that fell victim to hype and a producer pushing it into the AAA realm.
It looks like another forest/subnautica/7D2D/Spacegenniers etc.
>>698697432
It reminds me of Elite.
This is literally the largest game out right now.
It's my dream come true, exploring space and doing shit. Dude, you can explore entire PLANETS. Each one different from each other. There's space anomalies, planets have hazardous weather. Underground caverns.
If you really wanted to you can destroy a planet (would take forever though).
You start off in your own galaxy and can move to OTHER galaxies across a UNIVERSE.
You can do whatever you want.
The people that don't like the game are the same retards that love CoD every year. Or play cancerous games like LoL.
Not every game needs competitive MP for autist kids to sling their epeen around.
No I have an Xbox one lol
Don't even game that much anymore, disappointed with console releases. Plus I'm entering a more busy time in my life so I won't have time for much for awhile.

It's interesting enough. Exploration with some mysteries and ugrading your shit. Content wise not really that different to many other games out there but it's based in an environment (space and the freedom no other game gives) that gives you a chance to find new shit, even though granted, a lot you will encounter is quite samey, but I don't mind. Just makes it that much more interesting when you actually find something rare.
>>698698875

Splinter Cell and Hitman are basically the same games because they share at least 5 of the same game mechanics and gimmicks?

It will, if they keep updating the game like they've been wanting to. Also depends on how varying the game is in its current state. If there are some extremely rare occurences and things to explore/collect, then it will stay interesting to me a lot longer than those games that you just beat once and get bored since who wants to play through the same campaings again.

I know, reddit fag, but you should still look it up. ruins the hype train.

I see what you're saying, but all those other interesting games didn't decide to rub some smug asshole talking about a super-formula he didn't even come up with in my face for the past three fucking years.
If No Mans sky had released (somewhat) quietly to an auidience not sure what to expect, it might have been something cool. but at this point, it's become about nothing but bloated, meaningless statistics and bragging about a new procedural generation system.
If you have a fancy tech demo, don't flog it in the media like a crafted, thoughtful experience that'll run you 60 bucks + whatever the fuck they feel like charging for DLC, especially if the release is as buggy as people are saying.
See: the new Hitman games. hyped to fuck, legitimately exciting, and I LOVE the hitman games, but holy shit, between the pricing structure and the Dev fuckups in contracts mode, it's almost unplayable now.
After seeing some gameplay, it's obvious to see what elements are generated, sky color, plant color, ground materials, planet specific resources, animals etc. But it seems like there's enough variables per object to keep it interesting. Building mechanics would sell the game hard, they just need to hurry up before the hype dies off.

destiny, minecraft edition
>>698701685
I don't think they've been rubbing it off too hard. I had barely heard of the game until a month ago. Most other games like BF and CoD are hyped for something like a year before they come out and are way more visible and marketed with trailers fucking everywhere you go. This game is nothing in comparison to that.
>>698700109
He's right fps genre gets boring after a while. I guess you didn't get there yet.
>>698687157
Its 20% off right now for amazon prime

Dick out
>>698702226
seriously? not until a month ago? I've been getting non-stop ads for this games for 6 months at least, and they've been doing play-with-the-dev and interviews and pre-pre-alphas and pre alphas and alphas and betas for-fucking-ever.
Maybe ti's because the Content Ags know that I play Elite and Star Cit.
>>698683966
Maybe once it goes down to $30 or so. It's doesn't look good enough to warrant $60. Oh wow, trillions of planets to explore, but that's it. It has boring gameplay, and it's just another generic exploration game with a new skin. It's an even more glorified Minecraft, but without the building of MC.
>>698685585
or option 3: Pirate it - play for week - uninstall and let the .ISO file sit in your Trucrypt directory for the rest of time.
>>698702525
I'd guess you frequent gaming related sites. I don't. No Man's Sky is tiny in the gaming world. The bigger brands get most of the commercial slots and "hype" in the mainstream sites and mediums.
I pre ordered on Steam this past weekend in anticipation for the Tuesday release. I'm a little miffed that it got pushed back, but I read the patch notes and it seems justified, especially since they have to do a server reset.
That being said, I read an article where a guy wished that the game would never come out, because he loves the excitement and mystery surrounding the game. I actually kind of agree, but since I'm going to be a senior with very few classes this year and tons of free time, it'll be great to have a functionally infinite universe to explore, especially with the fact that it's supposedly going to feel like a single player game. With everything I have going on with my sick parents, and biological family randomly showing up just as I'm getting medicated for bipolar ii disorder, I need a super engrossing escape.
I played the shit out of Skyrim to the point where I can't have fun in it anymore because there's nothing new, even mods don't seem to expand it enough to sate me. I've been playing Overwatcha lot too, but because it's multiplayer and kind of intense, I can't play it when I'm in a downswing. Having a replacement game will keep me from sullenly staring at the wall.
The cool thing is no one is gonna actually read this.
>>698702898
This. Just look up the views on BF1 trailers vs. No Man's Sky trailers.

why did I fucking uy this game pls dont be like me this is not what they promised and I wish someone would have told me ahead of time its so boring and lifeless the bounty hunting is trash and the shooting is iffy at best is abyone is reading this dont wast your money on this
>>698702246
Not necessarily. Depends on the games you play. Yeah it gets boring after a while if you only play AAA CoD and MW lmao.
>>698683966
Any torrents yet???
Lol just lol, the release day got pushed back to August 12.
NMS seems like the perfect kind of game to smoke a bowl, order a pizza, and just chill for a couple of hours, so yes I will be buying it for console cause I just can't get comfy at a desk.
>>698693703
>>698693779
Two absolute gimps, get over yourself and go outside, you fat pathetic cunts
>>698703165
More like depends on what kinds of games you enjoy. It's just shooting NPC's or other players. That's all there is to it. That's the theme, and it get's boring after a while if you're not super into fps games.
>>698703024
>>698702898
I'm not disagreeing with that, But again, the devs of those games don't peter molyneux the fuck outta their games.
>>698687009
The first day patch notes for PC, the patch that pushed the release to Friday, indicated that there are "three paths" you can take that are actual stories, even if they are loose. I think they relate to trader, explorer, and fighter, and all center around different sentient races. Then the post game will probably be center of the universe or side quests, kind of like how Skyrim is after you beat Alduin.
>>698703515
>But again, the devs of those games don't peter molyneux the fuck outta their games.
Because of legal issues. Hello Games is also indie studio so it's kind of a big deal, all the attention they've been getting. Naturally everyone will want to talk to them since it's not everyday that something with this much people into it comes out from an indie studio. Can't really blame the guy for responding to the media. I'd actually prefer it if bigger studios did it aswell.
This thread is going down niggers

Too lazy to upload via PS4.

>>698688367
I have pirated games since IRC and eD2K and pirate bay has been declared "almost dead" for a good 10 years now
>>698701258
>repeatability
>lack of content
Pick one
>>698704655
No need to. If it's something you HAVE to repeat, like a campaing, in order to "enjoy", it's literally lacking in content. Wouldn't you rather tackle new challenges and bosses etc.?
>>698703426
You must live a boring ass life if you look at games that way holy moly
>>698691080
>>698704936
Sure but NMS doesnt have this.
Repeatability means the game is so good i want to keep playing, it also means i might not have done everything. The FO series has this. I could play one of those forever becuase of new situations and items. NMS is just flying and landing on planets.
>>698683966
Wont get it, it's over hyped and can't possibly be as great as claimed and reported to.
>>698704940
Well, it's true, I don't get a massive amount of enjoyment from video games. But atleast I don't act like I'm better than everyone else because I play the "right" kinds of games with "proper" content and all this bullshit people are spreading in this thread.
To each their own.
>>698705436
>The FO series has this.
I disagree. Once you've played through the main story line, there's nothing to keep you interested. It's just clearing caves/houses or w/e endlessly thinking it's something new but in reality you've done the exact same thing a thousand times already, with just maybe a different looking cave/house/whatever.
>I could play one of those forever becuase of new situations and items. NMS is just flying and landing on planets.
There are new situations and items in NMS aswell, are there not?
FO is just walking and entering buildings.
ComPOOtur games are for Losers and virgins
>>698705821
And NMS is just flying around. You still havent made a coherent argument to why you should buy a game that gets stale in a week?
>>698683966
:( no ps4 or god tier pc to run this game on
>>698683966
Dude I've preordered for about 8 months now. Hype wore off but it's back.
>>698684521
I have the game. It's exactly like that I shit you not. The game is fucking straight boring. Every planet I've been too has been just rocks with unexciting bullshit.
"you can't find other players in this vast universe" yet you find aliens to talk to on every planet with a space station right outside.
The game tries it's hardest to stop you from exploring by making you recharge
Life support
Hazard supports
Mining laser
Shield
Health
Refueling you ship every single fucking time you land because launching takes half your fuel.
The game is shit.
>>698706942
I haven't. Just like you haven't made an argument to why any game does not get stale in a week.
>>698693745
I get 57k a month in payments from my parents dying. I haven't actually purchased a single player game since dmc4. I'm far from poor but I'm not going to waste money on a single play game I can just torrent and get the same out of.
>>698699494
this is what makes the game shit
>>698709018
I have. It is called replay ability. If a game draws you in so much that you have to replay it, this means it wont get stale in a week. Are you a dev for NMS?
>>698709220
That might do it for you, and like I said, it doesn't do it for me. So why are you arguing against people who find similar reasons from NMS just because you don't?
Why are you not playing Starbound instead of this trash? It's literally the same thing except Starbound has an actual purpose. To build and craft, and have fun exploring new shit to interact with any way you want.
No Man's Sky is just hey lets look at some planets that are pretty neat but not mine or build because space robots that are everywhere
>but I can trade
>>698698875
Tldr you got beat as a kid by your dad while your uncle who indeed up taking you in raped you nightly. So now you want to buy indie game titles and post on reddit.
>>698709139
The only games I find remotely fun to replay are hack n slash games. Like Dantes Inferno, fuck that was a good game.
>>698709382
Im not the one who said all games get stale in a week.
Your original logic was "well all games get stale" i said no. And here we are, crazy that you keep contridicting yourself.
>>698709139
this game isn't singleplayer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9s2pV1L7Vk
so you got to the center of the universe, huh?
NOW DO IT AGAIN YOU CUNT~!!!!!
>>698710201
I'm not contradicting anything. I'm just not too keen on elitist jerks like you who think they're better than others based on the kinds of games they enjoy.
>>698698875
You should take a look at star citizen instead of this crap
>>698710553
When have i said that? Are you projecting anon?
I'm still about 95-100% sure this game will be a total flop.
Reasons:
>ridiculous amount of hype, no way it can live up to expectations
>gameplay we've seen thus far has lacked objectives, seems like exploration might be the game's only driving factor. nothing wrong with that, but...
>every planet. EVERY planet has life, apparently. Its not rare in the slightest. most people are going to get bored after the 5th or 6th weirdly shaped dinosaur they name "mcdickface"
>planets are not round, they're flat, and rather small. They went for the Quantity vs the Quality.
>ships can never die or explode or crash, the giant fleets of frigates and battleships we saw in the trailers were fake.
>most people will just point their ship at the center and leave it going, or make a bot to do it. game's primary goal will be accomplished in like a week. Tops.
Some of this may have been changed since I Last checked, but if it hasn't... well, poor show.
>>698710551
omfg hahahahahaha
>>698711498
Stop your damage control. It's obvious for everyone who reads comments made by people like you who start crying over other people choosing to buy and play a game that you personally don't like, and feel like the whole world needs to know it.
>>698683966
From the stream I seen a week before it's release this game is trash
>>698711750
I have seen an enemy float in a Literally 1 min. gameplay mate...
It's going to suck a dick after a week or a month but I'm probably gonna buy it anyways
>>698712139
>damage control
Im not the one who claimed all games get stale in a week, than try to back pedal from it. Im done dude, you cant even debate properly
>>698712501
I haven't back pedaled anywhere from it. All games do get stale in a week, but I don't go poking at people who still choose to play / find reasons to play longer than that, even if I don't. You do that. Kind of weird. Just go and play those interesting games of yours.
>>698712365
to be fair, I should have added that the last I actually checked up on this was probably two or three weeks ago.
>>698707935
Someone's mad.
Just don't play it if you're making such a fuss.
>>698686817
even more reasons to get out of that shithole

>>698684252
If your a PC gamer why the fuck don't you get star citizen it's much better than no man's sky
>>698713171
But it's not.
Personal preferences, you know.
>>698683966
Years ago I preordered Spore, I'm not making that mistake again.
>>698683966
Will get for PC. Will wander aimlessly for days collecting random shit and maybe trading with NPCs. The fucking language mechanic is so cool, holy shit. Can't wait.
>>698713171
Because Star Citizen is vaporware
>>698713171
Scam Citizen is a mess. I'm not saying it can't ever be a good game, but very much like E:D needs a good 3 years or so.
>>698692988
more like starbound then
It looks boring as fuck. More of a technology showcase than a video game. What is the main appeal of the game? "You can do things no other games can" and that's a bad reason to like something. In a few years such techniques will be incorporated in real games and it'll be much better
>>698700733
Its basically casual elite dangerous meets 3d starbound.
>>698713783
The same could be said about Frontier or Seinfeld. It's about nothing, but still enjoyable to some.
I am like most of you neets. my whole room is my universe. I am trapt. My mums only gives me 80 euro a month. I get free food though. Its better than a shitty job. Then when they croke. I get all their shit. So its a win win. Until then I am stuck here for atleast another 20 years. So ever since WoW shitted out I am in search of another game. Please let me know guys I am desperate. Fucking blizzard those cucks. Ruined my whole fucking shit life. Autistic reporting out from my moms basement.
2 guys have found each other on twitch. check out Psytokat stream on twitch, it's number 1 on the ps4 broadcasts if you're on the ps4 app.
HOLY,
YOU CAN WALK ON STATIONS!
>>698713511
It has more content than NMS though
>>698714605
More content doesn't necessarily mean it's any good or interesting.
