The way the planets are generated is interesting. It uses the coordinates of the planet in space as the inputs into the equation that decides all the random traits of everything for the planet from environment to animals. That way every planet doesnt need to be modeled and stored in the game. It is generated by your compiter as you arrive there.
Thars how they can fit billions of planets into a few gb of data.
I still tjink it will be repetitive garbage though. But the underlying method to the game's mechinics is cool and original.

Like this you make your way through the galaxy towards its center getting some lore here and there, some random events here and there and seeing some weird creatures on the way.
It is a very calm game. If you want alot of action don't buy it. If you just need something that you can play for a while once in a while that lets you relax and have some nice space visuals to looks at you might wanna check it out.

You clearly dont understand how the game works. It uses procedural generation, it doesnt have to have each world stored in the game. Your computer assembles the world from a few basic numbers assigned to each planet (the coordinates in space) to create the world.
The numbers are run through equations that decide all the traits. So a huge world and all the details of the animals can be stored in just a few kilobytes of data.

while that is true i do also think there are many people who don't really consider the devs when pirating. I can totally understand when someone says "i don't want to support XYZ so i will pirate this". But there are definitely many highschool kids out there who don't really think about stuff like that much and just pirate whatever. While big companies won't notice it much, smaller devs sometimes literally survive on the little money they make with their game, just long enough to make the next game.
That's why i never pirate games from devs i like and why i recursively purchase games that i have pirated that turned out to be much better than i expected. I've been following it for a year now. The devs haven't promised anything that it can't do now. In fact, they're planning to release an update to add shit that they specifically said wasn't even going to be in it in the first place.
The people that overhyped the game were faglord redditors who basically looked at Sean Murray as a God until he went silent about release dates and then cried like little bitches when the PC release comes out 4 days after the PS4 release.
That doesn't even factor in their overblown reaction when the leaked copy didn't live up to expectations, even though now it's been vindicated since the leaked copy was played without the day one patch and wasn't an accurate representation of what the game was intended to be.

I played it because I broke my foot one summer. Sure we played starcraft and Diablo 2, but no one wanted to sink $15 into it a month where I lived.
