Art is subjective and you'll hear a lot of people saying how angry the brush strokes are or how you can see madness in the colours or some other artsy fartsy bullshit. You just have to find your own meaning in it.

And yet that's why art is such an odd thing. Think the saying is "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and it rings stupidly true.

Ive seen Million dollar paintings I wouldnt spend 100$ on and ive seen 500$ paintings id pay a fortune for (considering I had unlimited money or some shit)

The angel is there guiding him during childhood and youth. It watches from afar during adulthood as he goes through turbulent waters, he thinks the angel abandoned him and begs for help. The angel comes back to him in his old age. It goes top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right. Infancy, youth, adulthood, old age

Yep seen plenty of shit like that. Riopelles can get completely wtf too, expecially when you see the 3 inches of paint mashed on. Dealing with that shit is stupid too cause it's heavy as fuck and so easy to break pieces off.

Gonna look around and see if I can find a old USB drive from work. See if I find anything of interest.

Sadly nope. USB is just all pricing and other data, and don't even have the program to run it anyways.

Here's some shit though that I don't understand. 10-12k estimate. And that's a cheaper one.

I have no interest in a pastel of a portrait of an Indian but many do.
>>
There are a lot of foolish people in the world who will use their imagination to create meaning and then attribute the meaning they find to the person that convinced them to start the process in the first place.
>"..don't you see the madness in the painting? Now I just need your credit card. It's worth it, can't you see?"
Any of us can take some fool like that and instead point them at a leaf on the side walk or a swaying tree or a Keanu sitting on a bench eating a ham sandwich, and create more meaningful art. I see those swirls and splashes and know there's a price tag and that bothers me.

I see those brush strokes and I see foolishness and manipulation.

This is the most common response given by uneducated people.
Abstract painting is more difficult than realism.
Realism is a formula. Anyone can learn.
Abstraction has no rules and no roadmap.
I do both and find an abstract painting can take weeks to months to finish .
I can finish a realistic portrait landscape or still life in a few hours max.

The amount of time doesn't really matter. If it doesn't evoke anything in a person then who cares. Art is art, not science. There isn't one right answer. So crawl out of your ass and realize that someone might think your painting is garbage while another might fawn over it.
>>
>>698304111
The piece is done by Auguste Rodin. It's called "Mighty Hand".
>>
>>698303993
Hey it's true but it's also up to the artist as well. And abstract obviously the only one with the initial vision is you. And things change as you make said piece. Sometimes it becomes madness. Sometimes the painting or such never gets finished cause the artist knew it wasn't done and never got back to it.

All mediums and types have their place though.

Well, when you have to be educated just to recognize deep meanings in obviously bullshit choas or dull blocks of color then you are just a chump who has wasted their time. And money. If there is no reason or logic in the education that would advance the uneducated then it is merely indoctrination.

I'm saying anyone can learn to draw and paint realistically. It takes time and dedication, but anyone can do it. Art schools produce artists like this by the thousands. They are nice paintings, but that doesn't make a Jackson pollock easy or random. It also takes time and practice to be able to do what he did. They're harder to execute than they look.

Non representational art is mindless ejaculate. The only way appreciation can be given to it is through an invitation to be indoctrinated into the circle jerk from whence it came.
>>
>>698307714
That's my point though, people don't think of all the bravery and courage like they do with WW2. People in WW1 were thrown on the front lines with guns that didn't work, or they were a minority so they got used as a meat shield. They thought PTSD back then was a lack of spirit, and you could be court marchalled and killed for having a episode in battle. Not to mention the living conditions they had, it was a completely different kind of hell compared to WW2, where instead of planning a attack, they would just keep throwing more people at the enemies until they won, lives had no value back then.

I've already spoken of how easy it would be to create this style. I can go outside now and gather up dead sticks until I have an arm full. A bundle if you will. And drop it in front of you. Then it's just up to me to indoctrinate you into the beauty of it. To impart my "education" unto you so that you can see, like I see, that it isn't merely a bundle of sticks... it's you. You are the bundle. The bundle is you.

There's a name I'd give to that piece of art work but it's just out of reach; the tip of my tongue.

It's really disgusting. Some people have no idea how things went down back then. Of course I can't say for certain as I wasn't there, but to have what was essentially a new form of warfare thrown at you with ambiguous origins as to why the war even started would be startling at the very least.

There are a lot of misconceptions about WW1, but technology still outpaced the current tactics at the time. No Man's Land was just dirty, plain and simple. Except for the Christmas Truce which is pretty damn inspiring.

it's not really mindless which is where someone who can actually read art is separated from someone who can't. this is a composed piece which is something kindergarten kids can't actually do -- they don't have the mental capacity to. also pollock is building on past movements and styles to create something uniquely his, american, and avant-garde. if you try making this kind of art now yes you would be a pretending wanker but half a century ago it was the height of modernist formalism
