The Soviet system had many problems, sure. In the US, people live on the street. They starve. There was mass starvation in the US in the 1930s. Why is not this mentioned alongside the propaganda around the Ukraine famine around the same period? Because, though these are both facts, one supports the pro-US narrative.
History is very different from what you read, even in university. I've shown my own professors fundamental facts by well-established writers (Western writers) that they did not know. Facts that were in their field.

Until the Soviet Union came along, it really hadn't. I personally don't credit communism for it, but the leaders did well to get it more advanced after Stalin. It's still working on it today and their economy and quality of life is doing much better. These images say otherwise, but these are just the gopnik of Russia.

After Alexander the Great, things became a lot better for Russians, but thing went downhill in the mid 1800's. It picked up after WWII, but at the cost of lives and freedom. They wend back down after Brezhnevs policy of "I'll worry about our problems later and plunge us in our war" that Gorbachev couldn't fix.
After the collapse, a free market picked up the economy and people were free after Gorbachev. They're much better today.
