I'm a hugboxer, myself but I do think it's good to have a blend of genres.
Personally, my favorites are enfie babbehs (especially when a mummah is selling out to save her other foals) or psychological abuse or when fluffies bring their suffering unto themselves.
Pure hugbox, in my opinion, is a bit like pure abuse . . . without the balance it's not an accurate reflection of life and existence.

They're not cute. At all. They're kind of sickly-looking; less like puffballs and more like beanbags. There's too much detail in places, too.
The reason art from other fluffy artists is so much better imo is that they make the fluffies naturally cute by drawing them simply, with simple emotions and minimal detailing. Look at this comic, for example- the abuse is funny and enjoyable to look at because the fluffies are cute even when they realistically would be ugly. Especially the eyes- big and wide, no complexity in the expression. This is what makes abuse fun to look at: dumb cuteness, in its simplest form, is fun to disrupt. Complex eyes, mouths and poses do nothing but get in the way and make things dip into the uncanney valley. Abuse is no longer as fun because it's no longer simple.
It's the same reason watching a retard freak out in public is funny, while watching a normal person having an emotional breakdown in public is disturbing.
