What I like to use is coconut husk. It looks good and is easy as fuck to spot clean. Also to good at holding moisture to keep the humidity a little higher and when it's dry it stays fucking dry. I don't know a whole lot about BP but my corn loves to burrow into it.

7 days is actually a pretty frequent feeding schedule for snakes. Anon is only doing that much because his snek is still a little kid snek. As adults, ball pythons typically do best on a feeding once every 10-14 days and they will stop feeding for several weeks and even months at a time of their own volition.
