I used to be highly introverted. Then I started forcing myself to interact with people on the subway on my way to work/school. Now I am a it more social, but i do have those 'burnouts' where I just kinda crash socially. Unfamiliar crowds make my anxiety spike up. Meeting a lot of new people at a time overwhelms me sometimes.

>>697893570
Things have gotten a lot better for me since i started forcing my sef to interact. I have a steady girlfriend of ten months (sadly, my longest relationship to date). It hasn't gotten boring and we still find plenty of things to do. I also lost my virginity to her. So woot. I know that even if things do go south it wouldn't hit me as hard as it would have say a year ago.

I usually roll or do acid when I go to festivals, drink for concerts. MDMA is fun because in addition to euphoria/arousal, it makes you feel very genuine and trusting. I like to use the roll to talk to strangers about their lives and bring each other up on what we perceive to be the other person's redeeming qualities. Quite literally emotional masturbation.
Personally, those experiences store up joy for times when I get stuck rehashing bad memories or worrying about things I can't plan for.

My longest relationship is 2 months.
I started dating last year when I leveled up my social skills. I practiced making normal eye contact with people like cashiers, and letting myself smile or laugh more often instead of hold it back. A lot of posture control in the hopes that if I physically look comfortable and secure then I'll more easily feel that way.

I thought I could do it sober for my trip fam but it really helps to be on something a little introspective, even if it's not what everyone else is doing.
One thing that I really like is talking people through a short hand and arm massage, there's almost a script to it and it's a great way to elevate a roll without taking more. Almost as fun to give as it is to receive.

Get yourself a set of principles that you really believe in. A philosophy if you will. Set standard for yourself and others. As you hold yourself to those standards you will gain confidence. Only thing to worry about is what those "rules" are. Live your life trying to make sure you are not a hypocrite. You're a big on the younger side I imagine?
You're gonna get your ass kicked in social situations for a while. It's a bumpy learning process since there's no theory to research, it's just experience.
The more you expose yourself though, the more you'll start to realize what works, what doesn't, and what constitutes normal interactions. I think a good starting point is this: when you're going to do something, ask yourself "what would I do if someone did this action towards me?"
You'll more often than not realize that the interaction you were terrified about actually wouldn't be a big deal if the situation was reversed, and you can more or less conclude that it's okay if you do it.
But again, this whole learning process will come through trial and error. Don't ever fool yourself into thinking there's a formula to it all. There's not, it's all about adapting. NPs in general are good at this.

>It's practically a triggered response to act like some smarmy douchebag
This is a preemptive move because you are simply afraid of being hurt for no reason. And it sucks to be hurt for no reason -- I know.
This is still shit that is bothering me personally too. All I can say is watch out, because a little bit of smarm might help you through a bad patch socially, but years of it will begin to shape your character as a whole. You don't want that. If you need it now for a kind of crutch just to get you by and maintain some sense of assertiveness and confidence then use it, you do you bro, but drop it when you feel that you can find both of those things in a more pleasant way. Notice every phase you are in and let it play out on its own.

>>697904110
That's kind of what I'm doing right now, and it's a large part of why I'm hating life. My family has drastically different beliefs from my own, and while I love them for trying, their trying to get to know me is making it really fucking hard to hide the things they'd hate about me. I meander around just so they think I'm slow and don't have any major social beliefs, and this fucking awful persona of mine has become the majority of my life. Full disclosure is a nice idea, but it doesn't change the fact that even if they weren't to take direct offense to the person I am as a logical decision on their part, they would have their view of me permanently changed in a way that is far worse off.
>>697904614
Once I got the reasoning behind it in general I was able to adapt it to new situations, not just the ones listed. And honestly at 32 years of age it has yet to let me down. Granted I'm an INTJ, but I assume most INTPs can do it as well.

Things keep getting better.
>>697899435
me too. we are less than 1%
i'm sorry for the other faggots in this thread
>>697904718
Your first mistake is trying to make people happy by lying to yourself and others.
Accept that you and your folks have different views, there's literally nothing wrong with that. People are different, diversity in thoughts is absolutely a natural and positive thing.
Put yourself in those uncomfortable situations and teach yourself that nothing bad will necessarily happen.
You can't be an INTP and suppress your thoughts because someone might become sad. That's suicide lol. Unorthodox and creative thinking are what define excellent innovations.

greetings fellow sperg, have a nice day.
>>697904718
Yeah. I firmly believe it's still the best thing you can do. Everyone needs a "religion" to resign themselves to from time to time, but it can be extremely difficult. Imho, the hardest part is when you have to finally decide to really change your life and let go of people who you once wanted approval from. But it will happen in time. And when you do finally become your "own person" I know you will be happy for it. Best of luck anon, and hang in there.
>>697904845
I think you should read some of the other anon, because you clearly have not.
>>697895110
mah nigga
>>697904994
lol you will string a few with these.
i can tell that you have put time and experience into developing your craft.
>>697904882
Relived. I don't know what I'd do with all that embasement and lack of self-worth.
>>697904914
You made my day anon.
>>697895933
Fellow INFJ. Dude Im in the same boat. But you gotta just do what you want. If you're weak don't think that you are. Think that since you are weak you can become strong. Its all within you.

>>697905099
Read the long one, in which they explain how they treat friendships, romatic relationships, etc.

I was INFJ when I last took the test around november of last year. I am now ENFJ, probably because I started talking to more people and got into a relationship
>>697904788
>Granted I'm an INTJ, but I assume most INTPs can do it as well.
That last letter defines a big difference between us. I've always found INTJs to be more in control and methodical. INTPs are almost incapable of this; our biggest bane is our impulsive and insecure nature.
An INTJ can look at a general idea, process it, and accept its applications. INTPs question the general idea even after we've seen consistent results. There's always a "what if," that leads off to a giant chain of events, almost as if we're paranoid about everything we do.
Becoming obsessed with a mountain of possibilities is an incredible asset in research and innovation, but when it comes to actually applying anything for ourselves, we end up becoming our own guinea pigs, and that often leads to awkward situations.
I'm INTJ, so basically autistic.
>>697904994
Don't be surprised to be called an idiot when you act like one anon.
>only basement boys come here.
You clearly have no idea what an introvert is, do you? Let me help. An introvert is capable of being happy and motivated without needed to rely on others. An extrovert needs validation from others, and as a result is beholden to them. But no need to worry. Most humans are. It's ok to just be normal, not everyone can be better.

Getting social support on 4chan.
>Getting social support on /b/ no less.
I'd kill myself if I didn't have a crippling fear of ceasing to exist, but thanks guys.
>>697905229
I actually am going to bed and I haven't in ages, so because I can't prove you wrong I'll just say you may be right.
I'm usually pretty skeptical about this kind of stuff, but the description of The Mediator is chillingly accurate. Especially the bit about hermit mode...

sieg heil introverten

>There's always a "what if," that leads off to a giant chain of events, almost as if we're paranoid about everything we do.
Shit, I forgot about that. My best friend in an INTP, and that is spot on.
So carry on anon, you clearly know more than I about this.
>Becoming obsessed with a mountain of possibilities is an incredible asset in research and innovation,
It can be. Though I find most I know tend to have issues flushing out one idea before moving on. But that's one of the reasons I love working with them, because that's an area I am quite adept at.
>>697905431
INTP-T are usually the "autistic" ones.

I was too. What made me like this is not only did mine fit me, but none of the others did.
>>697905459
Tell me more about how you're a special snowflake just like everyone else.
It's more like introverts don't know how to play nice with others, they still need validation but have no one around to provide it so they get super depressed and spend time getting validation online. Did you feel the warmth in the pit of your stomach when you saw the (you) at the top of this page? You're welcome
>>697893128
Nah, you'll be fine.
Now get out there in front of that huge group of people and don't fuck this up.
Another ENFJ here checking in
>>697905756
>It's more like introverts don't know how to play nice with others,
Only turbulent ones. But that's because we treat others how we want to be treated. We just don't take offence to every little thing. By age 20 or so most of us grow out of that, and are better for it.
>it so they get super depressed and spend time getting validation online.
That would be true if we didn't have
T.V.
Vidya
Hicking
Books
Projects
Etc.
Introvert means just that - we are introverted. We enjoy being in our heads. We enjoy other people as well, but not more so. We can be happy alone or among our friends, so long as we have something - anything - to do. Sure it takes us longer to get our shit togeather, but when we do we are at the top.
>Did you feel the warmth in the pit of your stomach when you saw the (you) at the top of this page?
I was somewhat excited, but only because I enjoy a good debate. To us, you are pretty much an NPC and this whole thing is a game.
>>697888067
>>697905756
Bruh, extroverts are typically trash. The best people are introverts that pass as extroverts.
This is nowhere near correct, I just struggle with depression anf anxiety. I guess this is one flaw with the test that is unfixable.
>>697888067
make way untermensch, the ubermensch is here.
>>697906140
This. Once an introvert becomes assertive they are great people to be around. They are usually self-aware enough not to be dicks thanks to a life of being an introvert, but confident enough not to be basement dwelling betas.
How fucked am I?
