I would argue that football players are more of the exception than the rule. They represent such a small number of all college attendees.
I personally despise the sports system within universities, even though they provide funding many universities act like it's their sole priority.
If a black person is able to get a full ride because they're poor but perform really well in school, I'm okay with that. I wouldn't have said no to a full ride but I also didn't need it so bad. When it comes to sports players it grinds my gears because many of them are not there for the free education.
