My 14 year old russian blue died last year. My best friend by far. I woke up one morning to him pissing on my sheep rug. I pushed him over (because I was upset) and he just...fell. He started drooling profously and I immediately called into work to tell them I have a 911 emergency and hung up.
I took him to the vet and they straight up set lthey think its liver failure and it while they can do tests to verify, he was in a lot of pain.
I agreed to put him to rest, When he died I actually wept and I felt him pur as he was slipping away. I have never cried so hard in my life. Ive been through family members dying and never really had an emotional attachment to death. But when "buddy" passed.... I still miss him and start to tear up when I think about him. The most loyal friend I ever had. Even typing this I get depressed. Pic related

I went through a similar situation with my corgi. We had to put him down 2 weeks after his 7th birthday.
My wife is a vet tech, and we fed him the best food and gave him the best medicine. That didn't help anything.
Ever since he died our house has been a mess. The other animals have been acting differently, and things in the house and financially have been falling apart.
