For humans to assume that their interpretation of a universal creator is correct when there are varying interpretations on our planet alone should provide some context for how subjective it all is. Given that there are at least billions of worlds in our galaxy alone and hundreds of billions of galaxies in the observable universe, the chances of one interpretation by one piece of one species on one planet being the correct one is lunacy.
There may yet still be a universal creator, but the only way we can infer attributes about that creator is by understanding the objective reality that it has constructed i.e. we use science to understand the universe.
I think that some things observed by old religions could have scientific merit such as the benefits of meditation on the organization of neurons or the effect of belief on the strength of individuals, but I expect that these will be more accurately understood as our knowledge of neurology continues to improve at an astounding rate.
Elon Musk's simulation conjecture also has some merit. Given the nature of intelligence as we understand it, it does seem possible that our universe in itself is a product of an intelligent species's curiosity in a parent universe.

I was either 12 or 13. It was Mrs. Lewis' biology class. Church taught me we were made from the dirt and descendants Adam and Eve. Can't say for sure. It was a long slow climb. I wasn't raised in a terribly religious household. I didn't get baptized or circumcised or confirmed or communed or any of that shit, but I believed there was a god and angels and an afterlife because my family said there was one. When my grandfather died, my attitude towards the whole thing became a jaded kind of "What the fuck, God? He was a good dude." Then gradually over my teens, elements of the story started collapsing under close scrutiny. The idea that the world was deliberately created according to a plan by an all-knowing, all-powerful, omnipresent being who loves us just didn't jive with my experience with the world and with other people. The idea that it's just matter and energy and accidents however made perfect sense. Why did Poppy have to die? No reason. It's just matter and energy and everything that lives eventually dies.
I wouldn't say I was a hard definitely-no-god atheist until my mid 20's.

So, this is kind of a Universalist approach to religion. It makes sense in the context of other religions, so give it a thought.
What if we are all God? I mean clearly as individuals we lack the capability to be the three generalized requirements to be god: omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence, but what if the totality of humanity is God?
I mean think about it. If the entirety of humanity worked towards one common goal, does anyone have a doubt that we would fail to accomplish it? Now that's a big "if" since we are so divided, which is why we will never achieve it, but it's that striving for unity that will allow us to achieve the state of Godhood one day.

I was raised without religion, not atheist, just told to believe whatever I wanted but both my parents told me they didn't believe in anything.
so I have no idea which age exactly, I just tried to rationalize a god-figure since I was a kid and it just seemed dumb.

Raised in conservative Christian home. Parents took me to to some religious based carnival type event when I was 4 or 5. They were giving out popcorn to kids, but in order to get it you had to say you loved Jesus. Even at 4 years old I knew this religion must be bullshit if they had to bribe kids with popcorn to get them to join. I haven't been to church once since I moved out of the house at 18.

My parents were not exactly religious to beginn with, and after discovering that santa was our neighbor in disguise when I was around 3-4, I had my doubts about the idea of a god to beginn with. I guess I rejected it as early as my 2nd or 3rd religion lesson in school.
And the years after, I became the typical kid that asks uncomfortable questions to priests and religious teachers. Went to the religion-lessons anyways throughout my school-years. Easy marks.
