I just passed 3 years clean. Cold-turkey, no outside help, didn't even mention that I was quitting to the people around me.
I had been sober over a year before my father bitched me out for being high all the time. I told him to search my room, my car, the house I was living at, wherever, he wouldn't find any -- just that I'm always completely fucking detached from other people.
Now I realize that is the reason I was using. Once I admitted that, I just stopped hanging out with people. I stopped looking for a girl, quit talking to people at work, now my life is much better.
I still smoke cigs and weed though. I don't plan on giving either of those up any time soon.
