Katanas have consistently failed in every single test ever conducted against virtually any form of longsword. Japanese swords were toothpicks compared to baseball bat of white man's long sword. Even a medieval short sword is nearly twice as thick.as the thickest o katana. It's not even close and you have to be about an idiot to believe otherwise. It's simple physics.
Katana is CUTTING weapon (like a knife) and not a well designed battle weapon for serious war. A cutting weapon is fine against a SINGLE opponent (not war or even battle; i.e., more than one opponent) but that opponent needs to without serious armor (like the japanese samurai's wore--basically decorated leather) but will not work at all against someone in plate mail. The katana is a useless weapon against someone equipped for serious battle (with adequate defensive armor).
FYI, the latest studies have shown the best katanas cannot even penetrate chainmail, or most heavy leather armor above 2.5mm.
Only the uninformed and jap-comic-fags would have any interest ever in a katana--a poorly designed weapon for battle. It is kind of the joke of the sword making industry.

Katanas are routinely broken in every one on one test against a longsword. Katanas also suck for thrusting and stabbing and often fail because or deflect because of that silly curvature. Longsword's crossguard is also better for defense whereas katana has none and you will lose your hands and finger quickly.
