Strokes are very common. That's good that he got help quick, altho there isn't a ton they can do. If it's caused by a blood clot they can treat it immediately with blood thinners to break it up, this can help prevent further brain damage and loss of function.

Two things come to mind.
First one was me falling asleep at the wheel and hitting a culvert at 80 mph and ramping it. Thought I was going to die and my back was fucked for a while and still is sometimes.
Second was doing the hour gallon milk challenge on a stream.
