I haven't had the time to do much research (neither has my dad, but we will some time), but most of my known family consists of Hungarians from Transylvania. We don't know much, but we know that after the death of my great grandfather my paternal grandfather got adopted by another family (the Tóth family, Tóth also being Hungarian for Slovak or Slav)
Great grandfather had a Hungarian name as well (exact same name as my grandfather and my dad) and I think his father in turn had a Hungarian name too (maybe István or something).
We barely know anything about my moms side of the family, but they're also Hungarians from Transylvania for at least one generation, but most probably going beyond my grandmother. What I do know is that my maternal great grandmother had the surname Fischer. That's not a Hungarian name, so she was either German or jewish. Will do more research on this the next time we meet grandma.
