I did on one of my first Pidgey. If by max you mean trainer level max, anyway. Ended up catching a wild Pidgey with a higher level that evolved into the one pictured. So in theory, you can. But it costs one candy for like maybe 20-30 cp. You can just do that after evolving it

I need some help with gym mechanics.
OK, so I beat a gym leader TWICE. The first time reduced the gym by 2000pts. The second was supposed to finish them off and kick out the leader, but he's still there and the gym says it has 320pts./2000pts. As if I never battled to begin with. Worse yet I can't initiate a battle again. Each time I did it kicked me back to the map. All my pokemon have full hp.

I downloaded Pokemon GO. I created my trainer. Then the professor says "here's some pokeballs to help you catch pokemon" and it puts me in this big blue map with a squirtle, bulbasaur, and charmander standing by me. It gives me no further directions, I tap all around my screen and it just makes a light blue circle and pinging sound when I tap. Everywhere I tap to try to find a menu or anything does nothing. Tapping any of the three pokemon does nothing, not even the light blue circle or pinging sound. Literally all I can do is spin my camera angle around. How the fuck do I catch a pokemon when they give me no instructions, no menus, and tap literally every inch of the screen does jack shit.
