MA70 Supra, turbo, 5MT if I could find a not ruined or insane mileage/price/condition balance.
Slightly stiffen it, more up to date turbo for faster spool, find an intake/exhaust that isn't obnoxiously loud but with a rich note, ECU tune so it actually does some good. Aim for 300 at the crank. Mild camber, -1.8° or less. Sticky tires. Anything inside the block would be focused on reliability.
I liked the BMW z3 for the steering response, but I don't trust them, they're also stupid in price here (10k burger bucks with a leaking top causing the airbag light, and rear subframe not reinforced at joints near the diff with over 160,000 miles. Nope.)
I liked the NA/NB MX5 for a cheap thrash mobile but they're too small. I have wide shoulders, and I slam my elbow every time I crank the wheel in my buddies.
MR2 is a maybe, but I like the grand tourers more for the practicality and comfort.
Also considered buying another reliable comfy car and building a tube frame chassis to be powered by a small I4 or sport bike engine.
