Sites like Reddit and Tumblr and 9gag/etc were frowned down upon because they did the complete opposite. They "stole" other people's original content (or what everyone calls memes now even if it wasn't a meme, everything is a fucking meme now nobody even knows what it originally means) and tried to profit and gain fame from it. The most notable site was Cheezburger or whatever the fuck where they sold memes shit and tried to cater to the lowest common denominator, mindless idiots who'll buy meme shit because they randomly heard it was mildly popular online. What's the point of taking other people's content if you're just going to dilute from what it originally was and you don't even get it, just be "in the know" to a small group of people you don't know? This leads into the users of those sites, who act much more obnoxious and feed into that ideology that 4chan was originally against. Now since almost 99% of users are new since 2008/9 and have moved here from facebook/reddit/tumblr/whatever, 4chan itself has become what it truly hated. See OP where these fags use tumblr screencaps as new macro images or posters who use forced meme phases like "git gud" or "kek" and such. It's an ironic death, or rather a fate worse than death.
