Mines .40 as well. Personally I really like the double action only trigger. It's a very well balanced pistol. Heavy slide and light frame not a lot of sway and even with the hard trigger pull it won't move when the hammer comes down. I chose it over the m&p. I got the medium compact and it's slightly big in my hands but the small frame was too tiny. I'm yet to shoot effectively with it. The trigger takes practice to learn. I'm very happy with it. Makes for a somewhat bulky edc but I have a small frame. If kept under the waist band a flannel shirt or baggy t shirt can easily cover it's profile.

It's an FNH Five-Seven. Mostly hand load because FN lowered the muzzle velocity of their 40 grain rounds to 1600 fps. Hand loads are 2100 fps. Muzzle energy comparable to to 40, but at rifle velocities. About 1/3rd the recoil of a 9 mm with more muzzle energy and a 20 round mag. Ammo is pricey though...
There was some BS in the media about it being a "cop killer" round. So they reduced the power of the sporting 40 grain so that it wouldn't penetrate level II body armor.

With today's gun marketplace the way it is you're better off going with an AR, they're cheap to buy, cheap to feed, ammo is plentiful, and there's a massive aftermarket for them.
AKs are great too and I spent way more on my AK than my AR but they keep going up in price and many of them aren't worth the price they go for

that's not meant to be taken seriously, if you're buying a rifle for longer range then rather than trying to put big holes in someone you should focus on being able to reliably put shots on target.
There's a reason the US military uses modified Remington 700s for it's marksmen rifles, even though it's a great rifle the M1A is extremely dated and honestly an AR15 with a 16 inch barrel will still be able to put shots on target at 600 yards.
Don't fall for the stopping power meme, if you still want a rifle that shoots .308 then get the Ruger Precision Rifle, it was built specifically for long range accurate shooting
