Also I feel like less people would do harder drugs after trying weed in that case. The whole "gateway" drug debate may be highly controversial but at least for basically all the people I know who take hard drugs it was kinda like that.
First weed and alcohol, then the person who dealt weed also had other things. And as an edgy teen you need to try that right away of course, and so it drags people into harder stuff who by themselves wouldn't ever done that. Group dynamics and whatnot.
So I don't think it's wrong to say weed is a gateway drug, but of course not every stoner will end up sucking dirty dicks for their next smack fix.
