That's a huge part of the problem. Because 64 only has smash DI (and there is always a correct way to SDI) comboing becomes not about mixups and frame traps, but it's about "did he hit the SDI y/n if n continue combo if y stop." That's still deeper than your average fighting game but it's nothing next to melee, and it's not ToD at the higher levels because of SDI so a lot of the flare evaporates.

Ironically it was the homework that I never did that put me in a really dangerous spot, even though I did way better on the tests than most.
Also I mean, I took like six classes at the same time, so that is kind of a factor.
I am just glad I drowned myself with two years worth of classes in two terms and basically got the hard part over with in the beginning.
