Some of this is old. Resume formats have changed.
The objective section is no longer needed. As a matter of fact it is a bad idea.
Basic resume format:
Top should be:
Name
Address
Phone number
Centered. Make sure it's a respectable email address. Make a new one for jobs if need be. I've seen some fucking terrible ones like [email protected] and [email protected]. Safest bet is your name/initials and if need be birth year.
Under this should be a list of your qualifications. These are three or four bulleted statements one or two sentences which go over what major things you've picked up from your professional life or education such as "Over ten years experience in production including lathes, drill press, quality control, and process improvement"
Top two should be focused on whatever field you are applying for. Last one or two should be general experience perhaps something that demonstrates strong work ethic or having had high performance reviews in a related or unrelated field.
Under qualifications in a table (without lines or borders) should be your skills. One or two word entries at least six of them better if you can squeeze nine. 3 across the page in rows and 2-3 columns depending on how many you can put in. Try to have 60% or more be directly related to whatever you're applying for. Examples: MS Office, Bilingual English/Spanish, Heavy Machinery, Security, Supervisory, Scheduling, Fork Lift, ect.

Skills and qualifications based resume continued.
Under this goes your work history. The purpose of the previous two sections was to highlight what the employer wants to know...which is what you know....but also to shorten your work history up (clean it up) work history should be previous ~3 jobs that are best related to whatever you are applying for. If you're applying for different jobs you should have slightly different resumes for each and possibly swap out a job in your work history. IF you're applying for a factory job they don't give a shit that you worked at best buy for 3 years. Write your job title. Your company. City/town company is located in. And either 2008-2011 or 9/2008-4/2011.
One bullet describing basics of the job or your main responsibility. The rest should have been dissected and consolidated with your other job experiences into either the qualifications or skills section.
Same goes for your other 2 maybe 3 additional jobs.
Unless you worked it for ages and it is DIRECTLY related to what you're applying for do not bother listing a job you had more than 15 years ago. Hell I'd even go so far as to say 10 years. Exception is military service I always recommend listing it even if it's way back when because some employers get a hard on for it.
Under this goes your education, certificates, licenses, and anything similar.
