Retirement. I'm just going to say it straight up: you get treated as a gardener/janitor for the first 2-3 years, and I'm not going to lie like the article, it's going to suck. And you'll be used for filler people to things you don't want to go to, and stand in a lot of formations, be under people half a year older, twice as pompous, and entitled. Even after all that, right now we're going into peacetime and downsizing, if you join now you'll be lucky to make it to 15 years. Even then if you go for 20 years, by the time you retire at 38 you'll look well older than that due to dealing with stress and other peoples problems. All career servicemen I've seen have gray hairs, dull eyes, and some develop sleeping issues. Although you can live off retirement, depending on you're job when you do retire, you might not have any other experience in other fields and find yourself wondering who you were before...
