Are you sure you can comprehend such advanced concepts? Maybe you should try some more simple explanations for three year olds.

Heat.
>>
When a chemical reaction occurs between two things (like burning) it can release energy. In the case of fire, you're seeing the light energy given off and you're feeling the heat energy.

Fire is not a thing itself. It's energy.

>>
>>686679239
Fire is not an object or substance. It's molecules and atoms DOING something.

When you add enough heat to, for instance wood, a chemical chain reaction begins in which the energy contained in the chemical bonds off the wood is released as the cellulose that makes up the wood is broken apart. This energy puts electrons in an "excited" state, but only temporarily.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only changed in form, so when the electron is no longer excited, the energy is released in the form of light and heat.

Any sciencefags can correct me.

Fire isn't a matter like the floor you are standing on or water from your sink or the air you breath. It is heat and light energy shooting out of a chemical reaction. Some fire you can't even see.

When you burn something the electrons get really hyped and start moving and jiggling very fast and they have so much energy that they jump out into lower energy state and release portion of energy that is realeased as a stream of photons with different energy, thus different electromagnetic waves with different wavelenght.
Some if it is a visible spectrum so you see it as a light, some of it is infrared wave so you have heat.
That's all.
Also, it's super condensed plasma.
>>
>>686679239
It's like a stuff orgasm. When your peepee cums, thats its fire.
>>
>>686679880
That is not even remotely true. Worst thing to happen to high school freshman science was that fake story making its rounds on social media about some kid getting his little sister interested in science by telling her fire is oxidization and we are all technically burning very slowly.

Read a book.

It doesn't procreate, it propagates. And respiration isn't breathing and breathing isn't even a requisite of living for most life forms.

fire is made of mostly charcoal i presume

Pure energy,
>>
>>686680892
If something can burn it contains the aspect of fire within it and you are simply releasing it from its physical bond from the object you burn.
>>
>>686680580
I get it perfectly i have major in theoretical
physics.
This post is for lulz ofc, buuut for a 5yo it's enough.
Fire is much more complex. You have quantum states, quantum electrodynamics, tunneling of electrons, pretty much a lot of quantum shit going on while burning things.

this is not true. infrared is not heat. it's still light
what you're sort of describing - in a misinformed way - black body radiation
>>
>>686681373
Yeah, no.
Gravity is also well understood and described in classical physics, but there's a whole new world when you look at the quantum level.

For example, Sun is pretty much understood, i mean it's basic fusion. But it's not possible without quantum mechanics.
Tunneling allowing fusion in the core is going on and on and on and on. Every time a fermion is jumping out of it's energetic potential.
Many other things as well. You can read about finite potential well to understand the energy relations between different photons from the sun.
>>
>>686681973
>Gravity is also well understood and described in classical physics,
It isn't though. There is a common misconception that it is. People still think black holes are holes and portals for christ sake.
>>
>>686681772
It is depending on what you mean by heat.
Object is hot because the sum of kinetic energy of its molecules is high.
But heat is energy transfered by a heat wave(for example, but mostly in the universe) in form of electromagnetic waves within infrared spectrum.

If you had a really hot object, and you managed to block all of the infrared waves, you could be hit with every other wave and not get burnt.

It is well understood and described, but as a phenomenon.
We can describe it, calculate it and we know how it works and what it does.
We don't know though why it works, and what causes it to work. That's quantum mechanics job, and that's what scientists are working on now, i.e. last confirmation of gravity waves. We knew about them, we described them looong time ago, just didnt really "see" them untill recently.

>>
>>686682989
>It is well understood and described,
It is thought to be well understood by people who don't know much about it and it is usually described incorrectly.

>calculate it and we know how it works and what it does
We use calculations that look like they mostly work out except when they don't and the rest is dark matter/energy. As for what it does we only know a bit about how it makes two bodies interact with each other.

When you have a fuel source (wood, oil), oxygen, and heat and the fuel source reaches it's combustion temperature there's a chain reaction and it releases gases that ignite to create flame an oxidation process like rust on metal but at a rapid rate
>>
>>686679239

Syntax. While fucking a 5 year old you can't comprehend written word.

Have you finished fucking yet? You can grasp basic concepts after you climax and come back down.
>>
>>686679650
This.

FIre is an exothermic reaction between fuel and oxygen, kickstarted by giving it heat. Once it starts to react, the oxygen and fuel change compound compositions and turn into things like carbon and CO2, and realease excess energy in the form of heat and light. The fire part you see is just light and heat energy.

So basically, the fire you see is just light. That's why it has no shadow. Light can't be blocked by other light.
>>
tomatoes.. cause tomatoes have the same consistency and contingency has fire

>>686679239
Fire is that dank ass nugget and wet is dat sherm stick nigga
>>
>>686685636
Well, if you think about working in physics related field, as in deep physics shit, you should almost definiately go for PhD.
As for jobs with bachelor, hmm. people usually teach, work with the police, work in a lab of some corpo if you're lucky, energetic companies. Most of the jobs that dont involve experiments and trully scientific ways do not need PhD. But after you get PhD you can do really cool stuff and get more moneyz. You could work at power plant, at universities doing some cool lab shit like using gluon flied fluctuation to create new quarks and many other cool stuff i've been hearing about lately. But of course there's still a lot of cool jobs for PhD physicist that doesnt involve sitting in a lab all day and doing research.
I work as a programmer myself, because it's good money and i kinda lost spark for physics after those years.
>>686685736
I like math, it's cool.
>>
>>686683506
>>686684016

Everything in the universe is made of energy and it has 5 essential attributes, 3 of which mankind understands well enough to fuck with shit.

Those are:
Frequency
Amplitude
Pressure

and the other two at the subatomic that we cannot seem to grasp because we like to shove our geniuses under the bus and fuck them over eternally while letting rich shits and idiots do all the science work. We're fucking backwards and deserve extinction.

So Fire is a bit of a mystery that we can only explain as "magical" because we don't actually understand *what it is* specifically because we're missing those other two fundamental attributes of explaining why energy in different frequencies can be hard, then soft, then pass through energy we think is solid. We live in a virtual world. Solid shit is just the frequency range we interact with regularly. Higher and lower frequencies fuck with our shit (e.g. Gamma Rays and ULF)
>>
>>686686794
Yeah I guess I'll continue going for the PhD then. Not interested in academia, mostly industry or government research.

>>
Fire is just a chemical reaction, releasing the energy of the molecules held in the substance that has reached certain conditions that allow it to be released.
>>
>>686686488
Fire can cast a shadow if the light source is brighter than the fire, Visible flme is glowing molecules, most flame we see is glowing carbon-- carbon absorbs/blocks light trying to pass through the flame.
>>
>>686679239
It's a chemical reaction, you fucking little brat. Oh, the next time you take a shit, wipe your ass you nasty little vermin.
>>
>>686687033
That's good decision. I mean, those experiments are cool and all, you get to see really awesome things and maybe even change the world. At least you think you would because on top of that is sitting 12 hours a day in a lab doing math, then infinite fights for money and donations for your project, then legal stuff and in the end it all goes for the university because you're too poor to do it on your own and no corpo will give you the money if you're not some professor with 100 years of expierience and breakthrough project.

That's sad reality of physics today. At least in the movies it looks cool.

>>686687664
Yeah kinda.
One of my professors is doing a quantum cryptography project for which he gets millions of euro donations from EU, he has a black box like 20x20cm that only shoots photons into little sensor and counts some shit. I dont even know how it works really but he said it costs 750 000 euro, and he has 2 of it, one from 2 years ago - 400 000 euro, he said that it's outdated shit so no one uses it anymore.

So there it is. 400 000 euro worth black box, laying in a shelf in a basement of university building. Heh.

So yeah, you could be him, but he's a genius and a leader of quantum cryptogaphy research, so... nah, it's better to get a real job.
