I have plenty of buddies in recruiting and they all tell me that the guys that try to push for enlistments are usually the ones hurting on numbers since no one comes back after basically being told "I hear your demands, but consider this: fuck you". But the better pay and shit? No way. It's pretty standard across the board. Furthermore to that point, army Helo guys tend to have easier times getting jobs on the outside because muhfuckin' errybuddy got helicopters these days. Oil rig transport, life flight, news/police, etc. High demand with very very little turnover. That's not to say a fixed wing pilot can't find a job. Just that your claim came across as a very "navy is better because Top Gun" kinda condescending way. And that's just not true.
But, speaking from experience, military experience only gets you so far, man. Finding jobs sucks ass. I only recently landed a good job after nearly going bankrupt and homeless because of getting laid off from another one prior to. I served my term and got out and it makes little to no difference to employers that I have nearly a decade of experience in my field, but a large portion of it being military.
