Well, I got lucky with a couple and made some good money. Took most of that and threw it into solid mutual funds. Those have been earning pretty well. I started taking initiative... I washed the cars faster. I approached the owner. I told him I hated where I was. He bought me a camera, a nikon D50. He let me take pictures of the cars to post online.
Months later I was selling cars on the weekends to help pay him back.
Months after that, I got rehired on as a salesman. I cleared $40k my first year, which was more than I'd ever made...
Long story short, a couple years later, after some different choices, I have my own trucking business. Just 3 trucks, but I cleared $134k profit last year.
So fuck you. And fuck college. I ended up getting my GED and going back. It's a fucking scam. It's all a bunch of selfish brats being spoonfed an entitlement mentality. They graduate and are WORSE off than they were before.

It's the same in Maryland. All my friends when we graduated highschool got FAFSA assistance and went to school for one semester and complained about how much money it was. I on the other hand had to pay for my own car payment and insurance ($500 a month) and pay for my own "rent" and phone plan along with my own groceries. My family makes just enough money to scrape by. We always have all my life but I am glad to say my parents never once relied on the gov't to help us out. We always stuck it through whether that be another job for my mom, dad, or me or taking ungodly amounts of overtime just to be able to pay for the fucking electric. While my friends wouldnt go back to school because they couldnt afford their books while they spent all their money on fucking drugs and what not for either them or their parents. But i forked up ungodly amounts of money straight from my pocket just in the hope that I could get somewhere at the end of it. Now im making 80k a year to simply sit on my ass and take calls from overseas and bullshit around for 8 hours a day. And I can honestly say im blessed that i went from working at fucking amazon all night long and then rushing home hoping i can sleep for a few hours before I went and flipped paddies for the morning shift at mcdonalds and then going to my classes all afternoon before I went back to slave away at Jeff Bezos fun house.

I am currently doing this, and I have to say it's not easy, but most people aren't willing to put in the time. I work 2 jobs, am an RA to get free room and board, and I still struggle to pay for all of my school bills and feed myself. I haven't taken out a single loan for school and I struggle to get by, very much like it was during my childhood.
I'm not even aiming for a high paying job, ultimately just wanna work park services or become a park ranger. It would be nice to make triple digits, but I'm certainly not shaming anyone else for the life they live, it's just a matter about how much they fucking whine about it.

Just like I said in the TL:DR, Dude don't even fucking consider giving up. You can be dead ass fucking tired and know you only got 3 hours of sleep but you still have to go to one of your jobs and/or class right after/before. Just dont give up it will pay off. I went to school just for some simple electrical knowledge but because my moms work is centered around engineering and r&d I caught a fantastic break and they had an opening for a job that was semi related to my degree and they gave me the job simply because they saw how my mothers work ethic was and I cant stop saying how thankful I am for it.
