ITT: Beer labels with cool design and/or edgy message, of 2 year old or less breweries, therefore the beer is good and we buy it.

ITT: Beer elitists.

You always remind me of a guy who was at the same party I was last summer who went on about what an uncultured swine I was and began listing all his favorite labels and their qualities- about half an hour before he puked all over the deck and passed out in a chair next to the fire.
I continued partying and got into some 8/10's pants while he sat there passed out with his mouth wide open, slowly melting his shoes.

The best beer I've had. But really expensive.

Worth it though.
>>
>>685656826

Jester King from Texas, and The Bruery (pictured in my prev post) do a lot of really good Belgian inspired stuff with their own twist. Expensive and rare as hell outside of the states though unfortunately.

Most American stuff that's widely available in Europe is stuff like Stone, Green Flash, and Founder who usually do more hoppy things but not exclusively. Stone have actually just opened a second brewery in Berlin so it's pretty easy to get their stuff super fresh if you go to a decent specialist beer shop

They come pretty close, actually. My first batch that flavorful, but that was more the fault of my mash not being fully extracted.
The thing that sucks about it is that it's a very long fermentation. I do a 1.5years for the old and 6months for the young, so it's not a thing to do if you din't wanna wait for it.

Define beer...

Herbs and spices have been used in beer for centuries.
>>
>>685664325

>Yeast
>Whisky

wut?

In all seriousness though, if you want less carbonation in your beer try and find a place that serves it from a cask, they dont get force carbed with CO2 so tend to be a much smoother drink, but it does still naturally carbonate from the conditioning though.

Can you get this in the States?
>>
>>685664787

Yes that was my point. That whisky, being yeast free, agrees perfectly fine with me while beer usually does not. So yes, it's quite possible my issue is the yeast and not the carbonation.
>>
>>685665456
>implying pilsner isn't common stuff in eu
I'm not implying pilsner is bad, on the other hand I am implying that Pilsner Urquell is shit.
>>
>>685664956

No, you're right, but when served from a bottle/standard pub keg the beer stays carbonated, in the case of the keg due to the addition of more CO2 to presurise and serve the beer. A cask will let the beer breath and is only "pressurised" for serving using air and so usually less carbonated at the point of drinking.

There are always exceptions though, but in general cask beer is less fizzy

Trappistes Rochefort 10

I didn't get it.

Have tasted more than 400 different beers. .. name better than Pilsner Urquell or Budweiser Budvar lager
>>
>>685665778
hmm, can't even recommend me one good beer, seems like all my instincts about you were right all along.
>>
>>685665963
Yes, definitely. My remark was only referring to the process of artificial carbonation.
>>
>>685665695

Yeah, I thought it was phenomenal. Better than the Gulden Draak/9000 IMO but each to their own.

Rochefort 10, and St Bernardus Abt. are both excellent examplse of this style too, as is the famous Westy XII
>>
>>685666216
Rochefort 10 is among my absolute favourites. Too bad they stopped selling it here.

Your problem is probably not the carbonatation or the yeast but bloating because of the addition of dextrines in industrial beer.
There are no addition of dextrines in craft beers give it a try.
>>
>>685666369
Yes, both the Rochefort and St Bernadus are amazing! Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer blue was something I managed to get a hold of when they had a very limited stock of those locally. Definitely up there with the greats, still haven't tried the Westvleteren.

never tried it, but I do work with a beer distributor in my city and everybody I talk to says that Urq tastes like complete ass

Favorite beer has to be the now out of season Sam Adam's Cold Snap, currently drinking Sam's Summer Ale

but we also distribute lots and lots of beers, and I haven't tried nearly enough of them

Sweden, we've got state regulated liquor shops, anything above 3.5% alc can't be sold anywhere else. My local shop used to stock both Trappistes Rochefort 10 and Maredsous blonde 6, but they stopped about a year ago. Luckily there's still Chimay blue in their regular stock.
>>
>>685666240

Fireston Walker - Pivo Pils, Birrificio Italiano -Tipopils, Victory - Prima Pils, Beavertown - No Wiser, To Øl - My Pils, To Øl - Raid Beer, Mikkeller - El Cellar De Can Roca.

Just some better pilsners, it's not really a style I enjoy so IMO there a loads of better beers, but these are just better examples of that style.

Currently drinking one of these things, normally I don't drink flavored beers. I'm assuming they're new, they were promoting them at a local gas station for some reason and the clerk encouraged me to try it out. Really not that great, but they were selling them for a dollar so no big loss.

Normally I just drink cheap beer, Keystone light or Busch regular. Or whiskey.

Personally, I think it's retarded to spend 10+ dollars on a six pack of something that isn't even going to get me drunk. If that's your thing, cool, but they're not really for me. I drink to get drunk so it's pretty impractical. It takes me at least a 12 pack to get decently drunk and buying multiple $10 6 packs gets pretty expensive.

Once and a while I'll buy them, usually something that has a fish on the box just so I can be like "hey, look at these cool fish beers I bought. They taste like absolute shit, but the bottle is pretty cool." Obviously there are some good ones out there, but based on what I've tried there seems to be more good than bad. All of these new, small breweries try to make their beer stand out from the others, and it usually does. Just not in a good way

Hop haze man, those east coast IPA's are all super hazy

Don't mind me. I prefer simple local beer.

Don't all beers list the amount of ounces on the bottle/can? Or is that typically a US thing?

Every beer I've ever drank has had the fl. ounces listed.

ive never been a fan of Ipa's or bitter beers
Cream Ale's sound like they would be good but usually aren't
dark ales and stouts are usually the best in body and flavor

Sadly they don't distribute anywhere outside of Vermont. The old brewery stopped selling cases on site too, which makes the drive not worth it to me anymore.
Good news is they're opening up a new spot this summer in Stowe, VT and will have cases for sale again!

Damn I didn't even know keystone was 4.2%, thought it was 5. Not a big difference.

But I said at least a 12 pack. I usually drink much more.

I've also seen very few craft beers that are anything above 6%. Then again, as I mentioned I'm not really into them so I don't really look that hard. Every one I've seen though ranges from $10-16 or so for a 6 pack, so that turns me off of them itself.

I'll have to go check out a good, strong one at the beer distributer tomorrow. Any suggestions? Preferably nothing with some weird, bitter taste to it. That's the shit that I don't like. I don't mind strong tasting, but if it's a weird combination of sorts I might not like it.

I've had Stone IPA before, the only with the green and black label with the gargoyle. It wasn't too bad, but it had a really distinct aftertaste that I wasn't too particularly fond of
>>
>>685670797
Then again, the Stone IPA said right on it to keep refrigerated and they were sitting out on a shelf on a discount rack. Any brand that doesn't sell they stop ordering and pull it out of the coolers and sell for about 1/3 of what it normally costs, just to get people to buy it. Could have been sitting there for quite some time, which might be why it left a funky taste
