I loved the subtle use of an evil presence rather than having a giant monster stomp around or forcing constant gore down your throat. The payoff for me was seeing the devil in Black Phillip. These aspects and finally seeing a covenant of witches was pleasing as an invested viewer. Maybe because the film didn't feature flashing lights or softcore porn your simpleton mind couldn't focus enough passed the opening.
