Twas a Turbo. About 360HP with K27, chip and shim, <3,000lbs.
It was actually pretty reliable, plenty fast and handled/stopped great. Little shit would go wrong, like a $0.50 AC compressor switch....$500 to fix because the whole ckt board had to be replaced.
I would not buy a normally aspirated one, but a turbo in good condition would make a great project car.

Well, part of it is because I'm in Hawaii, so places aren't exactly that far apart from each other. The guy I bought it from only had it for like a year, and the original owner had the car for the majority of its existence. It had just under 70k when I bought it. I'm guessing it was kept as a collector car or whatever. And then I guess the original owner or someone he knew fucked up the door and he sold it. The hinge is jacked up and allows the door to open wider than it should, which causes it to grind against the fender. There's a dent on the door and fender - I think the car either rolled backwards and the door got caught on something and was forced forward, or it was open and someone drive into the door - maybe while parked? IDK. And I've been poor as fuck so I basically only drove it 1-3 times a month for the first three years that I had it, so yeah. Now I'm delivering pizza in it and putting 1300 miles on it a month. I don't want to rack up the miles this quickly so I plan to get a second car. Was about to until I've had a clusterfuck of problems this last month. Doesn't help that I also keep blowing my money on Miata parts.

They've gotten cheap as fuck, at least over here, where Miatas are already pretty cheap. But yeah, just buy a regular one - you'll still love it. The only reason I crave boost is because I'm kinda tired of Honda Odyssey drivers feeling the need to point out how gutless my car is by doing flybys. Other than that I enjoy the fuck out of it when I'm on my favorite road or when I was autocrossing. But yeah, the MSM only has like 30 more horsepower over its naturally aspirated counterpart, so you aren't missing out on much.
