A friend got into vaping and let me use it, I enjoyed it. I bought one for myself. I lowered the nicotine strength until I was vaping no nicotine at all (just doing it for the flavor). I rarely use it now, but I also weened myself off smoking.
I'm a diabetic as well, smoking causes my blood sugar to increase around 35%, vaping helped me get my blood sugar under control and as strange as it sounds being unable to eat anything with sugar in it, vaping sweet flavors helps me to get rid of my cravings for sweets... that's the only reason I even use mine anymore.

That's the thing though, even if inhaling glycerin and propylene glycol is safe, we don't know the long term effects of inhaling all those flavor additives. We'll find out though, I guess. Not to mention overheating glycerin to the point of combustion creates toxic chemicals, and those vape coils are apperently creating hot spots that over heats in tiny spots, slowly dosing you with the badness. No idea about the health risks (as experts are still debating), but the cost factor is way more attractive.
I can get 30ml for 5.95€ in a local store, and if I mix it myself, the costs for 10ml go down to 0.80€. So at the cheapest method, I will currently pay 0.80€ for 12-16 days worth of smoking.

It REALLY REALLY helped my asthma, i breathe SO much better. i was smoking at least a pack a day, i wasn't able to exercise because of it. but now, i'm back to running and light lifting.

I used to smoke a pack and a half a day. I started vaping about 5 months ago. I started at 8mg of nicotine, and was able to immediately cut down to just a half a pack a day. After the first month I had given up cigarettes all together. It's been 4 months since then and I haven't had a cigarette since. I am down to 3mg nicotine, and at the start of June I plan to cut out nicotine all together. I will do that for a month cutting back more and more every day. I should be completely smoke free as of July.

Not sure how legit it was, but I read a study that concluded while nicotine is active (the 'buzz'), it's not addictive. People still get withdrawal if they switch to vapes, because they're not getting the ton of other shit that's in regular cigarettes. I think still having the nicotine helps deal with the withdrawal symptoms.
