is that ovechkin?
back on topic, i think it does have respect in the us and canada, but eurofags and other countries view it as a clusterfuck of kids just beating each other up.
Flyers fan here, and i stopped watching playoffs after the caps beat them in game 7.
there is only a fraction of the amount of fighting there used to be
ok now you sound like a faggot. Wanting to stop all hits in a contact sport? Go watch golf faggot.
we are trying but all the faggots keep bitching about fighting and hitting in hockey.
im sorry when was the last time they made it to a finals??? let alone won the cup?
I'd watch it more often if I wasn't blind as fuck. It's fucking impossible to keep track of the puck.
I just cant respect anyone who likes or even doesnt dislike the flyers. How anyone can see how those fans act and not think of that entire city as a cesspool just proves you are part of the problem.
>people want to watch sports they can pretend they were good at
this pretty much sums it up in the USA. Literally everyone grew up tossing a football, baseball, or basketball with friends. Some faggots even played youth soccer bc it's a no-contact sport predicated on making the most melodramatic reaction possible to the slightest brush-up.
But basically no one grew up playing hockey unless they were rich, white privileged kids. There is a huge start-up cost for a kid to start playing any form of hockey because the game requires so much equipment and a specialized venue. With other sports, all you really need is the appropriate ball and patch of land. Hell, we used to play touch football in a parking lot because we could run faster on pavement than we could in grass.
tl;dr playing hockey is way more expensive than playing most other sports, so poorfags can't into hockey
Because its a team sport and Amerifags have a fucked up celeb culture.
QB, Pitcher / that one guy that gets lots of HR/RBI, Curry/Lebron.
Hockey also has a hard cap so parity is better than any other sport, another thing Americunts don't like. Can't bandwagon on parity.
Hockey does get the respect it deserves.
In climates that it is appropriate for, that is.
Sadly we have a little munchkin named Gary in charge of professional Hockey in North America. He is more interested in overpriced seats, watered down talent, and turning the game into something it was never meant to be.
There is a problem in North American hockey and his name is Gary Bettman.
did the league end up changing any rules over this? it's pretty hilarious to see the Flyers call the Lightning players chicken, but my god what a boring game that must've been
>hockey stick Junior size $10
>hockey puck $5 bucks for 3
>wood crates found in in construction zone free
You were saying?
Play in the streets or on t he basketball court.
Although I think it's the funnest to watch, it's so inaccessible in real life that nobody has any experience with it, and thus they aren't drawn to watching it in their social circles and whatnot.
I'm a white Canadian male and I've never played it, but I've played every other sport hundreds of times.
I think most people don't have access to an ice rink where they can get into it. It's not like you can go to the park and play it. It's getting more and more respect over the years, though.
enjoy your hobbled, toothless adulthood.
Also, good quality hockey sticks, even the beginner level sticks are more like $20 each. Pucks might be cheap, but they get lost easily and if you're playing without protective gear they will fuck you up.
And rubber pucks don't really move across asphalt that well (or at all really) unless you turn them on edge.
Basically, you just revealed how uninformed and ignorant you really are on the topic. Playing hockey at any level requires an order of magnitude more money that playing football, baseball, or basketball.
I don't think so, but I was like 9 at the time, so I might not remember.
If you do what the flyers were doing, eventually the refs are going to call the play dead and give you a defensive zone faceoff.
Dumb fuck every Canadian plays with tennis balls and a 5 dollar Canadian tire hockey net. Leagues are expensive but there are so many that provide kids with the equipment and pay the fees for the arena.
I'm from the states and none of the neighborhood kids even knew that hockey existed until our middle school PE teacher introduced us to it. We fucked around with ball hockey for about 2 weeks and then never spoke of it again.
Outside of school we only ever played football or basketball. Football when the weather was nice, basketball when we wanted to stay indoors.
You only need to be rich if you plan on going all out with the gear. A pair of roller blades during the summer and a pair of ice skates during the winter plus a stick is all we needed growing up to play with my friends. Hell, for roller hockey we didn't usually use a roller puck or ball either. A pack of tennis balls was cheaper. As far as league play, my family saved by buying my stuff secondhand from Play-It-Again Sports.
