I asked for art here quite a few times since one part of drawthreads is about requesting and delivering.
I did get those draws.
And guess what, I also commissioned several artists from here cause I liked their art and wanted to support them.

Probably not, but does it matter? Profit is never 100%, out of 10 followers from /b/ if only 1 commissions you is a sweet deal already.
Given the number of people that come here that 10 commissions for 100 people, and 10 commissions might mean 500$.

Draw a few good requests, people will immidiately ask for your tumblr. You post it, and even people who might not have been interested enough to ask you directly for it, will also visit it.
Out of all these people 1 or 2 might upload your picture to image sharing sites, like e621 in case of furries. From there a shitton of people can get to your site and consider commissioning you.
Posting one link for like 10 people might garner you a following of 100+ people.
(not to mention you can just spread your artwork to these said image sites yourself. it's not like sitting on your ass and doing absolutely zero advertising will get you any money)
