My lungs are hurting. My facial skin has that pale, discolored look. I have pseudo eczema, which is caused by smoking; I got a huge fucking rash on my elbow. I just feel like I'm aging.
My looks are important to me. I look very youthful despite being in my mid-20s, and I know that's going to change if I keep smoking. So that's my encouragement to quit.
And hey, while I can easily afford expensive cigs, I can spend the money elsewhere.

Various makers of different eliquids us different ingredients besides VG and PG. Those other ingredients primarily being juices and such for flavoring. So it could have been you had some weird reaction to that.
If you ever decide to try vaping again, you could get or make you own liquids that are pure VG or PG or mixed. And then experiment with different flavoring agents and ingredients to find ones that do and don't irritate your gums.
