Look directly into your telescope first to eyeball where and when to frame your shot. It'll take your eyes a moment to adjust to the brightness (and it might hurt a little), but keep them open and you'll be able to see the disk.

Then you want to set up a series of filters -- try them in front of the telescope, eyeballing the sun through the telescope with each as you figure out which combination blocks the background sky and corona the best.
