Concept phase has ended as my prototype of the puzzle platformer was approved
Using either a grappling hook or tendrils you have to pull yourself or objects to navigate through the level
The protagonist at the moment is based on very quick sketches so that's still open as well
Any thoughts/ideas?

Tendrils. Would make better for some fancy effect animation and making it seem smoother.
Maybe get two of those tendrils or grappling hooks but only later in the game. If you make it kinda open worldy, you can also go back to some parts of the game and reach other destination with bonus things which are nice/making it easier but are not needed to finish the game.

I'm not that great with the whole animating and both would really just shoot out in a straight line. Only difference is the hook would just get stuck while the tendrils would wrap around the object. If I decide to develop the game further I could definitely do some more open world stuff but right now I only have 2 weeks so that should bring me about 5 minutes of refined gameplay

Yeah you start with one so the player is getting use to it and later he can decide which one he prefer the most! And the tendrils or hook simply work as skin so they dosen't change the mechanics of the game!

The levels themselves shouldn't be too hard since they're don't require much scripting or AI, once I've done the character controller and the grapple I'm pretty much done coding unless I decide to add in enemies. Will depend on how much time I have left. I've only been prototyping since today but I have 7 levels planned out, not counting the tutorials which make you familiar with the different elements
