Before we had a kid, it was an adjustment from the dating and single life in that you're not out there for yourself anymore, you have someone to hitch along for the ride. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but in order for the relationship to actually work it requires some self-sacrifice, mostly when it comes to your time.
Sure, you can come home from work and say "going to play vidya's for 6 hours, see you in bed", but it's probably not going to fly most of the time. The other person needs attention, time to talk about life, discuss future plans etc etc... This was stuff that you did while dating, but now, there's no "well, I am kind of tired today, we'll hang out tomorrow ^_^" when you wanted to just jerk off and play Dark Souls 2 all weekend.
This can be difficult to get used to at first, and you eventually figure out how to set time for yourselves and with each other, but it was probably the only hard thing about it. Otherwise it was great to see my love every night, go on vacations, do stuff together, be awesome.
Once we had a kid though, shit got so much harder and it really strains a relationship. I think things are getting better but there have been many days in the last 18 month's when I've put serious thought into divorce and becoming a deadbeat dad. It seriously has been that difficult. Luckily, I have too much pride to do that, and I can persevere through the hard times knowing it's not going to last forever.
