Yeah, ok, Everything Goes Numb's cover art has what looks like a scene chick on it. You've got to realize that the music itself isn't really scene at all.
A few of their songs are anti-suicide and one mentions Kurt Cobain but the vast majority of their discography is pretty upbeat lyrically. As far a purely musical stand point goes most of their songs are fantastic, especially anything from The Hands That Thieve and as someone who has played trumpet and piano for 12+years I'd like to think I know at least a little of what I'm talking about. Maybe my opinion is bias but I stand by it.

I like ska, I'm of this opinion. I avoid trying to pretend anything 3rd wave ska is "top tier" simply because most people aren't gonna like it and much of it sounds the same.
I don't wanna be that guy, but as much as I like ska Streetlight is absolutely overrated in that community. Not saying they are bad because I like them and all, but lyrically they are this mix of edgy try hard and narcissism that is just a total turn off when they are at their worst. Fortunatly they are (good) musicians and that makes up for much of it. All bets are off when they are going off about politics though.
