Why the coils at the bottom instead of arround it?
The magnetic force pulls the metal object down, against the barrel, producing friction and the object won't travel as long due of the fact that it comes down+ deceleration due of friction. (Eh, I am not 100% sure if will be drastically lowered, the outgoing velocity of the object. But I think it still gets influenced by the drag and down pulling force)
