I was an 90s kid but couldn't understand the appeal of portable CD players.
They were huge and you, expensive, and impractical. You couldn't even tell the difference between CD and Cassette tape quality unless it was played on a large home player with expensive quality speakers.
I stuck with my Walkman and tapes until around 1997 when I moved to the new Mini Disc players that came out a few years earlier. The quality was the same as a CD and a lot smaller than a Walkman, plus you could carry 5 or 6 discs in your pocket with the player easily.
Then in the 2000s I moved to MP3 player which was even smaller and stored music right on it.
I owned maybe a dozen CDs in my life, waste of money and a total scam by music industry. Cost 5-10 cents to make (cheaper than cassette tapes) and was outrageously overpriced.
Now I just steal all my music, cause fuck the corporate music industry for ripping me off all those years as kid. Fuckers stole all my lawn mowing allowance, Bastards.
