There was a feeling we'd all get as kids on xmas morning. I swear to god it was like real life magic. The level of excitement that day was over the top and it lasted all day even after we opened our gifts. We'd eat special meals and watch Christmas shows on tv. Everyone was so happy.
Then it stopped. Around the age of 11, I realized that all our presents were donated by the church and we were poor. It stopped being magic. We were too old now and our parents stopped trying. We'll never feel like that again but from time to time I get small watered down versions of it. Like when it's snowing and my work sends out a mass text telling everyone we're closed and not to come in, but it's not the same.
