force of the attraction is resolved through the arm, either it bends or breaks, or if strong enough stays still and just absorbs the force

For the simple reason that there are no magnets powerful enough to do that. Also you need a arm that is strong enough so it could withstand the force the magnet is doing

Reminds me of this kickstarter

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/triton-world-s-first-artificial-gills-re-breather#/

Someone did the math and it wont work because a diver needs abuot 10L of air per minute. To get that much air from water at 15 feet down, it needs to pump 230 litres of water though the device every minute. A typical garden hose pumps about 35L/minute. 230 liters per minute is so much force it's almost like one of those underwater scooter things.

The more paired electrons moving in the same direction, the stronger the magnetic field.

Every once in a while I leave /sci/ so I can come here to fap. Never thought it would follow me this round.

I'll put it simply. The magnet needs to be more powerful. Given its current size, as well as assuming there's no external power source as show and it's a magnetite based magnet, it's far too weak. You could strengthen it with a battery by causing it to enervate and electromagnetic field, but the power source would have to be large and the weight would defy the purpose of strengthening the magnet. If you managed to use an external wired source, you get two problems even though it can kind of do what you want it to: It will only have very limitted range and only go forward, and it would tip over first moment it moves due to obvious structural imbalance.

You're comparing a circle to a fractal here.

If you're at the point where the fractal looks like the circle, you simple zoom in a little more and you'll see the edge pattern again, while on a circle you don't.
>repeat into infinity
Doing this over and over again doesn't matter. You'd have an infinitely small line that's in a square angle to another infinitely small line. You'd never have it lose its geometric shape and therefor you'd never have it change it's geometric attributes. The circumference of the square doesn't change with the number of iterations, it stays constant, as is pointed out.

Because you suck on the hose to get it started, that starts the electricity before the pump is needed, so the pump always has electricity when it needs it. It's like the drinking bird; it only needs one push.

Here is one that operates on the same basic principal you're trying to argue for.
>>
>>679317586
Not really.
Think of the stick as a line of atoms (because it basically is). Now you push one end. That means you're giving energy to that atom. This energy is passed on to the next atom and the next and so on.
The passing-on of the energy happens (at best) with the speed of light. You're essentially creating a wave within the medium that is the stick and the wave will hit the other side (in the best case) with the speed of light.

Bear Grylls already has a better method.

If it's not hot and you're not exercising heavily then you don't even use the water you drink, so theoretically you can drink your pee indefinitely. Plus, your skin absorbs even MORE water from the atmosphere.
But there is a catch; depending on what you eat there may be a build-up of toxins in your pee which could prove deadly after a month. If you eat nothing but rice then you'll be fine.

It's truly nothing else than filling a hose with water and attaching both ends to the in- and outlet of a pump respectively, then turning on the pump. Nothing troll about that, the water WILL circulate thanks to the pump (i.e. ME).

What is and is not possible is irrelevant. We can do calculations for all kind of impossible things, take fractals for example. They're completely theoretical, yet they have defined and calculabe properties.

Just like a stick that's 1 light year long, or a stick that has infinite density. Or both at the same time. It's an impossible object, but our mathematical concepts can be applied to it.

Why? Am I incorrect?
It's simply how forces work. I jump, thus translating a force onto the elevator and onto me, of same size and opposite direction. Relative to the elevator it will accelerate me updwards and the elevator downwards. Relative to the ground it will accelerate the elevator downwards and me, depending of the speed of the elevator, either upwards or slow down my downwards speed.

In the real number system 0.999... equals 1, just like 15.999... equals 16 and for that matter 8.345999... equals 8.346. If you want to go outside the real number system and deal with infinitesimals, that's fine, thanks to Leibniz we have infinitesimal calculus.

However the mentioned post has nothing to do with 0.999... being equal to 1

It doesn't work because you'll just hit the roof and die anyway. That is the same thing as putting a generator on a compass and spinning your hand. The energy lost spinning/walking around the north pole equals (kinda) to the energy gained by the spinning

But it wont. If the elevator is in free fall, it wont be traveling that slow.

Ignoring air resistance, the elevator is traveling at V = 9.81ms^-1 * t, where t is expressed in seconds.

So if the elevator only falls, say, one second until it hits the ground and I propell myself up after, say 0.9 seconds with a force greater than 9.81ms^-1, then it would work. Nothing you can do about it.

>one second free fall
Again if that is the case, jumping is moot because the elevator is not falling fast enough to kill you

That's above my head, I guess, but I can tell you that the are converges towards the limit set by the area of the circle. In other words both the circle and the fractal have the same area, but not the same circumference. Since we hit bump limit, I can't give you a proof for it though (would be hard to do with ascii characters and no formatting anyways).

That plan sure does SUCK!

So you're agreeing with me and nothing I said is in any way wrong? Cool.

What about the drag on the first car?

This gives me an idea: Would it be against the rules to have a teammate purposefully lose the race so you can always sit in his slipstream? Like, if he's behind you he could just wait until you come back around and start driving fast again.
